Hearty congratulations are in order for our Online MBA candidate Matthew Koestner, CPAT, USAF. Matthew has been named a recipient of the Captains’ 2023 CSAF Prestigious PhD Program. The Chief of Staff of United States Air Force endows this award to only 3 Captains annually. The award is a full 3-year scholarship to pursue a PhD in various fields of study from 24 specifically selected top-tier civilian universities in order to develop strategic, competitive, and diverse thinking and leaderships skills that will identify actions necessary for the Department of the Air Force to effectively compete on the global stage. These universities include Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Cornell, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, Georgetown, Duke, Stanford, etc. Matthew hopes to study Economics at the University of Chicago. District 16 State Sen. Angela Turner Ford will serve as keynote speaker for Mississippi State’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Day virtual celebration and Day of Service on Monday [Jan. 17].

One of the university’s largest annual special events, this year’s program will continue virtually online and broadcast on MSTV in observance of COVID-19 safety protocols. The event will be broadcast at 8 a.m. on MSTV and live-streamed at www.mstv.msstate.edu, in addition to being made available on the MSU website. It will re-air on MSTV throughout the day with showings at 8 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7 p.m. MSTV is Mississippi State’s high-definition television channel. Dean Oswald has accomplished so many things during her tenure here at MSU. From the addition of the Strategic Finance Lab, the MSU Center for Entrepreneurship and Outreach, MILO, and the Idea Shop, to the launch of the Executive in Residence program, MBA Venture Pathway program, Diversity Dawgs, Boots to Business (B2B RR), the Supply Chain & Logistics major, online undergraduate and master's programs, and numerous concentrations and minors, Dean Oswald's work is never done.
