On August 8, 2024, AAR hosted a graduation ceremony for 10 high school students who spent their summer diving into aviation and career opportunities at the company's Oklahoma City location.
The internship program is designed to spark interest in the aviation industry, offering hands-on experience that builds on the maintenance training students received during the school year, and launching them into high-paying, in-demand careers right after graduation.
The 10-week program is co-sponsored by Oklahoma CareerTech, Express Employment Professionals, AAR Airframe MRO, and Choose Aerospace.

From humble beginnings in 1971 with just 531 students and 7 vocational programs, Great Plains Technology Center has grown to educate over 3,100 students across 16 high school districts, offers more than 70 career majors and trains over 10,000 business and industrial students every year. It honors those who actively work to integrate multiculturalism, gender equity, and support for individuals with physical disabilities into career and technology education programs.

🌟 Celebrate a Career Tech Legacy of Impact 🌟
After 34 years in education, with the last 23 dedicated to Western Technology Center, Penny Berry is retiring and leaving behind a remarkable legacy. Penny started as the Tech Prep Coordinator, where she pioneered "Club Scrub," a program that provided students with job shadowing experiences in healthcare and grew to gain statewide recognition. Her efforts have not only inspired many to pursue careers in healthcare but also influenced educators to explore new paths.
Penny's journey continued as a Counselor and later as the Director of Instruction/Assistant Superintendent at WTC-Burns Flat, where she became known as the "WTC Cheerleader," always celebrating the successes of students and programs. Reflecting on her time, Penny shared, "I am grateful to have played a part in 'success stories' and to be part of a history that will impact the workforce in western Oklahoma."
Thank you, Penny Berry, for your dedication and for shaping the futures of so many Oklahomans. Enjoy your well-deserved time with your family and the next chapter of your life!

Today is National CAD Tech Day! Oklahoma CareerTech prepares students through CAD training to work as drafting technicians, engineers, architectural technicians, or designers! CAD (Computer-aided design) drafters and technicians invent and design solutions to everyday challenges through the use of technical software and their innovation.
