Romanesco broccoli (AKA: Romanesco cabbage, or Romanesco broccoli) is part of the broccoli and cabbage family. It has a similar taste as broccoli or cauliflower, but has a beautiful bright green color and grows in spiraled points.
To preserve the look and texture of this vegetable’s unique structure, try roasting or steaming at meal time. It can also be used in soups, purees and any other way you would use typical broccoli!

YES! It does make a difference about how much and what else you eat, not just the fact you ate a particular food.
Cupcakes are fun. So fun and we can talk about them neutrally. But what if we want to discuss some of the non-positive effects of cupcakes?
I was in a conversation with Alli the psychologist on our team. She brought up the point that if we say a food is bad, kids can often wonder if they are bad. Things get sticky when we start calling foods bad.
Are some foods bad for you or your child? Possibly. For example, I’m allergic to salmon. It’s bad for me. I don’t eat it. But I don’t say it’s a bad food. I say that I’m allergic to salmon and if I eat it, my body will do xyz - so I choose not to eat it.
We can say the same things about cupcakes. “Cupcakes give us a really big burst of quick energy, like a big push from mommy to the top of the swing set. And then the quick energy is used up in a flash, like us falling off the swing from the top. We might get fussy if that happens! Let’s see if we can feel when the quick energy is used up after we eat these cupcakes!”
I think it’s good to have
BTW, Real Easy Weekdays muffins have been my go-to for my kid’s cupcake needs for a few years now. They taste good and tend to have a lesser blood sugar crash.
If you have to choose one, do you choose icing or cake?

Why work with a dietitian?
Hello and thank you for checking out my page! I am a registered dietitian and certified lactation counselor. As a dietitian, I have been helping people make and keep healthy choices in their lives with real food. Nutrition is more than just what you put in your mouth, but also how much, why you are eating, they way food is prepared, how you acquire your food, what else you are doing, goals for your health, you health history, and who influences your choices. It is not easy to do this alone-that’s where I come in! I’m here to help you make the changes you need to succeed and stay successful. My role is not to judge, but to educate, guide, refer and support you. I have experience working with children, teens, young adults, middle-age adults, and the wisest amongst us.
Dietitians are registered by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and are the experts in nutrition. Appointments are also able to be covered by most major health insurances, which is a wonderful way to stay healthy without paying out-of-pocket.
