🏊‍♀️ Allison working on improving her breaststroke kick! The breaststroke is one of the most complicated strokes to learn and features the complex frog kick / whip kick. 🏊‍♀️

Your hips are a fulcrum point in breaststroke. When you’re breathing, your hips assist by driving down and forward. Coupled with the shoulder shrug in-sweep, they provide a pocket in which to catch that much-needed breath, without having to lift your head. After the in-sweep, and as the hands shoot forward, the chest drives down and the hips return up to or near the water’s surface. The hips are a key factor in the breaststroke kick.

Figure skating requires excellent flexibility at the hips and knees while maintaining stability at the core and pelvis.

🏃🏻‍♂️Dane is training / rehabbing with us to get back to trail running and ultra marathons post Hip and Core surgery! 🏃🏻‍♂️

⛰To prep for trail running Dane is working on multidirectional agility and plyometrics to simulate movements required in trail running ⛰

‼️Dodging roots and potholes, rocks and muddy puddles requires quick and reflexive lateral micro adjustments to your standard pavement / treadmill running style. Multi-directional single leg hops are a great drill that will develop your ability to change directions quickly. They also strengthen the smaller supporting stabilizing muscles‼️
