Another accomplishment for S.C. First Steps and the children of Sumter County. It was a great graduation ceremony of JMBC Christian & Academic School.

South Carolina First Steps is offering one-time incentive grants of up to $30,000 for newly created and/or newly approved private providers proposing to become a new First Steps 4K provider or to expand First Steps 4K services to additional children.

September’s Family PAT Group Meeting: Car Seat Safety

Our agency recently awarded 2.4 million in READY grants to 15 local First Steps partnerships across the state. This opportunity is a result of the South Carolina General Assembly’s historic investment in the state’s young children, allocating $3 million in recurring funds to be awarded to local First Steps partnerships just like Florence County First Steps.

“Local First Steps partnerships have a proven record of effectively addressing the needs of young children and their families,” said Derek Cromwell, SC First Steps’ Chief Partnership Officer. “We are incredibly grateful for the General Assembly’s trust in SC First Steps and their remarkable commitment to South Carolina’s young children.”

Sumter Co. First Steps providing master-level early education training to 75 Head Start teachers. Both agencies are preparing children for school and lifetime success.

🤦‍♀️What type of safety restraint is required for a 4 year old child who weighs 35 pounds?
Kids ages 4 through 12 who are either shorter than 57 inches or weigh more than 20 pounds but less than 65 pounds may have to use a booster seat. Once they hit 57 inches or 65+ pounds, they can graduate to an adult seat belt.⏬ Parents children up 2 yrs.old can register for a diaper bundle with the car seat check.
