While out delivering food and City information to our neighbors, a first time volunteer found this note bringing her to tears:
"Por favor dejar mi despena comidita, en la silla tengo mucha necesidad gracias Dios los bendiga."
Translated:
Please leave my little food pantry (bag/basket) on the chair, I have a lot of need thank you, God bless you.
One of the many reasons we intervene.
One of the many reasons Reach SV doesn't have traditional offices, nor has it ever.
Reach SV holds office where our neighbors live.
Reach SV Is grateful to the dedication of the County Board of Supervisors to tackle homelessness in Silicon Valley.
Their approaches have been innovative and collaborative making it possible for boots on the grounds organizations like Reach SV to continue its work.
Thank you Joe Simitian and District Five for the grant to help us reach those in need.
Though there is much that unites the many cities and towns that make up Santa Clara County, each community is unique, and the needs of unhoused residents who call these places home may vary greatly.
Local communities are often best equipped to identify these needs, and community partners are well-positioned to assist. To help support and encourage these efforts, County Supervisor Joe Simitian championed County grants for the City of Cupertino - City Hall, Town of Los Gatos - Government, and nonprofit Reach Potential Movement in Mountain View to address the unique needs of unhoused individuals and families in these communities.

Last week Reach SV staff, women from its Mompreneurs Program with the help of Mountain View Housing Justice hit the streets to distribute information along with groceries while taking surveys of needs for vehicle dwellers.
Top needs: Vehicle registration, smog tests, repairs & insurance.
Other needs: Case management and safe lot referrals.
Reach SV continues to advocate and support vehicle households in North County starting with asking questions and seeking understanding.
One of the common misconceptions we hear is that unhoused individuals are coming from outside of the area.
The 2023 Santa Clara County PIT shows otherwise and that 85% of the unhoused were living in the County when they became unhoused.

Timely Clothing Closet Update:
Due to the unsolicited toy and furniture donations being left at the donation center, Reach has halted ALL unsolicited tangible item donations.
Unfortunately, the unsolicited donations are costing Reach hundreds of dollars to dispose of.
Thank you in advance for understanding.

While we wait for deeply affordable housing in the pipeline for those in extremely low income brackets, affordability is going to look different in between time.
We are on the way to where we need to go but the truth is it is going to take time. We must have a paradigm shift in the waiting.
Extend a hand, extend compassion, love a neighbor today ❤️
