The 13th Annual FabMo Artisans Market will return to the Los Altos Community Center (97 Hillview Ave,Los Altos)on Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 11 am to 6 pm. Fabulous stuff made from goods saved from the landfill.
Meet Sabrina Nelson:- I make Historically Inspired Reticules (Regency to Victorian Purses), Totes, Hats and other accessories, and Jewelry.
I’m inspired by the Period Entertainment and Educational Society, The Dickens Fair, and my guild, the Greater Bay Area Costumers Guild. So much of the fabric from FabMo easily lends itself to these designs. I love that I’m rescuing fabric from landfills and turning it into useful and pretty things.

Meet Diane Carver:- Wall Art and Note Cards. I have been painting on silk and other fabric for years, doing collage work with fabric and making wall pieces. I quilt most of my pieces, sometimes quite heavily. I started volunteering for FabMo in Hannah's and Jonathan's home....a long time ago. The fabric I acquired there inspired me to do the collage work. I've been a participant at EVERY FabMo Artisan Market.

The 13th Annual FabMo Artisans Market will return to the Los Altos Community Center (97 Hillview Ave,Los Altos)on Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 11 am to 6 pm. Meet Kathy Bonte : - She is particularly fond of FabMo’s versatile and beautiful leathers, which she cuts, stamps, shapes, paints and embosses into lightweight necklaces, earrings and cuffs. More recently, she has become obsessed with FabMo’s smaller glass tiles as well. She views each tiny glass square as a miniature canvas-ready to receive a design and become part of a larger wearable creation. Kathy complements her FabMo treasures with other scavenged materials whenever possible to further minimize her environmental footprint, utilizing upcycled aluminum and wood scraps from a friend’s cabinet-making business.

More from Andrea. She says this is entirely made of fabmo items. Pieces of cotton that was beige and has light floe designs, I gave a little bleach bath, tie-dyed, sewed all together and the binding I made from strips of fabric bought from Fabmo.

I found a 'wing' at FabMo, these are some of the larger samples we get sometimes.Already hemmed! No idea what it is made of. It is now having a new life as a tablecloth on my picnic table. Yes I have washed it a number of times! The roses are coffee filters and the 'vase' is a cardboard tube with FabMo wallpaper covering. (Bron)

Meet Nancy Edmonds of Yellow Horse Handmade.
I fell in love with bag making: there are so many possible shapes, types of materials and embellishments to use. Being a horse person, I started using broken reins and tack for straps, and soft leather from jackets I get at thrift stores. FabMo is a treasure trove of creative materials. Their fabrics are leftovers and discontinued samples from interior designers, so every bag I make is unique.

Come and meet Scotty Ross, who is an absolute hoot.
I make "junk journals," where I repurpose everyday items, junk mail, paper bags, copy paper to use as writing surfaces. When I discovered FabMo in 2014 just after I retired, I thought I had died and gone to heaven! I immediately recognized the treasures that were available and began using leathers and upholstery fabrics to create mini patchwork quilted book covers with "wonky" stitching, and not one straight line to be found. They are pretty; not perfect. The purpose is to get our words on the page so that our place on this planet is documented! Or at the least to make a list of what we need from Costco. Or, considering what we’ve been through the last few years, Faith and Prayer Journals. The books come traditionally bound or as refillable covers with a replaceable notebook inside and are guaranteed conversation starters in any coffee cafe or the Costco checkout line.
Some really yummy stuff available for sale this coming Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
Don’t miss this one!

Rescuing Materials for Creative Reuse
Every year FabMo rescues approx. 70 tons of continued designer sample such as fabric, wallpaper, tile, carpet and makes them available to the creative community for reuse.
Have you ever thought about what happens to all those large and small samples that help you figure out the color of your couch or curtains, the wallpaper in your guest bedroom, or the tiles in your kitchen?
Before FabMo they ended up in the landfill.
Here is what happens now:
