Hi Sylvan Lakes family! We hope you are all doing well. We continue to have our office open - although we are attempting to meet your healthcare needs via telemedicine.
We really see our part in this pandemic is to provide you with uninterrupted HEALTHcare and decrease the burden on the emergency departments. We can do this with telemedicine while keeping you safe at home or work.
If you need help with getting set up for telemedicine - we are here to help you.. Please don’t let technology or telemedicine cause you any concern or fear... we have fantastic staff members to assist you.
Speaking of fear and concern. We strongly encourage you to read the attached article. This IS worth the read.
We are grateful for all our fantastic patients!
Peace,
The Doctors and Staff at Sylvan Lakes Family Physicians
Why Coronavirus Should be The Least of Your Worries Especially if you don’t have it yet
As we continue to navigate these unprecedented times, including telemedicine and social distancing ... even the Doctors and our fearless office administrator, Sandy, are holding daily meetings on FaceTime. Stay strong Sylvan Lakes family! We are here for you!!

To our Sylvan Lakes Family Medicine Community,
Please know that we will stay open and available to assist you in your health care needs. In an effort to keep you (and our staff) safe we will be transitioning to a video and telemedicine platform.
If you need an appointment, you can continue to call our office - just as you always would. We will be working with you to assist/inform/educate you on how to proceed with video and electronic visits.
If, after your video telemedicine visit, we determine that we need to see you in our office (example: skin abscess that needs incision and drainage) we will schedule you for an appointment in the office. We are fully prepared to be here for you!
However, our first goal is to keep you healthy and safe - at home! We only want patients to go to the ER if you have an emergency. We all need to do our part.
We look forward to the day when this is far behind us. However, meanwhile we are here to help you. Please pray for all the people directly and indirectly affected by this public health emergency.
God bless,
Drs. Fisher, Sherman, Woodard, Dickman and Mathur
Good morning Sylvan Lakes community.
I wanted to give you a progress report from our office.
We are still open. We are calling all patients to screen prior to confirming their appointments and we are asking all patients with mild cold and flu like symptoms to stay at home. (“Moms recipe”).
If you have severe cold or flu symptoms our phones are open and we will give advice and we may be able to offer you a telemedicine appointment (read more below).
What can YOU DO right now to help us provide good medical care to both our healthy and sick patients?
1. If you are not all ready signed up for electronic access to you chart (“My Chart”) then do so now. This will allow you to send secure messages to us, check lab results, access some basic e-visits. (This could lighten up our phones so wait times can be reduced)
The link to sign up is posted below.
https://www.mercy.com/patient-resources/mychart
2. For Apple device users, Get familiar with face time - give a friend or relative a FaceTime call and practice.
3. For non Apple device users get access to Skype and try that out.
4. Call your insurance provider and inquire about your telemedicine options and coverage. (Medicare plans ARE covering telehealth services exactly like they do an office visit. Other plans may or may not. Check with your insurance.)
Lastly, people keep asking me were to get information and I know people are scared. My advice is this. Turn OFF your TV. Stop watching the 24-7 talking heads hyping dramatic stories and toilet paper shortages. If you want really good advice and a daily update then watch governor Mike DeWine’s daily press conference. Dr Amy Acton gives great daily updates and recommendations without all the media drama. I personally watch this every day.
Stay safe, healthy and STAY HOME... (and, as our Governor asked, fly your American Flag to show our unity)! 🇺🇸

Some - of our many - wonderful staff members who came in on a Sunday for a full scrub down of the office.
To all our patients -
Please know that this situation is very fluid and changing quickly. We are doing our best to handle your calls and meet your healthcare needs.
We understand that everyone with a cough or fever is scared and would like to get tested. However, that is not going to happen (yet). The only people eligible for testing - right now - are people at extreme risk and the people that are so sick they need to be hospitalized.
If you have a mild cough or fever you may have a number of different viruses (they have been out there for years and you all have dealt with them on a regular basis). I have talked to many of you this year who have had a “really bad flu” at home and you just did what Mom taught you, “Mom’s recipe” (rest, fluids, Tylenol, cough syrup, etc.) and it worked!!!
However, even IF you do have Covid 19 ... 80% of people have a mild case, only 15% are moderate and
From all of us to all of you.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
