Special education and related fields friends, I'm in search of a text to speech scanner gadget that won't break the bank. Classes start next week and I couldn't get digital copies of my textbooks.
As friends share about unresponsive school districts ignoring requests to setup IEP accommodations for the new school year I'm shocked at how relieved I am to have moved out of that phase of life for now. It's like I have a bad flashback and then I remember I'm not in that battle zone anymore. This system is broken and needs to be rebuilt.
Preparing for new opportunities to serve our community.
Just a reminder to start off your (Tues)day. Whether you’re disabled or not, you are worth acceptance, protection, and safety.
Walk a little taller today or move a bit more confidently knowing that, because you merit acceptance. Not just because you’re human (though that’s more than enough), but because of all of the undoubtedly awesome things you do every day.
And, similarly, strive to make your space one where others can enter and feel accepted, safe, and included. Because not only are you worth it — they’re worth it, too.

Some have asked why we're talking about race in the context of disability. What's your opinion about why it is or isn't helpful to talk about the racial aspects of disability?
Why talk about race? Because it has a significant impact on people's lives, including affecting the quality of healthcare they receive.
