When we say we have fun at our summer program, you probably didn't think we were this committed! Happy Summer Friends!
Pattern practice with the fancy beads this afternoon.
Reviewing healthy eating with some chalk art this morning and loving this sunshine!
"Even Superheroes Have Bad Days" by Shelly Becker really inspired my superheroes to have a great day! We are out saving the world, one classroom at a time!
Summer fun at the Merriday pool! Looks like she has found her new favorite spot :)!

K/1 had a fantastic time exploring and researching at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo yesterday! What a beautiful day for an adventure!!!
These crazy girls decided the playground needed a little facelift this afternoon and took to creating a collaborative art piece with extra bricks and sidewalk chalk. Great work girls!
Pre-K playing abc apple picking game! Working on matching lowercase letters (apples) to uppercase letters (apples) filling their bingo board! Such great fun!!
It was so nice to see the sun today! We are super excited to get the pool opened and get back out swimming! We still have space available for our summer program! Give us a call today to learn about our full and part time options for 3-12 year olds!
We were not able to go outside to play, but don't worry we got our exercise in through GoNoodle!
Yesterday K/1 had a lot of fun during their Monday MART time. MART is a time to connect math lessons into art lessons. Math + Art = MART During this lesson we reviewed our 2D shapes and created these beautiful pictures. This was a great way for students to start thinking outside the box and learn why it is exactly that we learn what we do in math. Maybe there is a future artist or architect in our midst ;)!
This little one just finished her puzzle all by herself, we could hear her from across the hall! Great job!
Preschool is having fun playing centers this morning!
These two rock stars are happy to announce they have finished all of their math for this year! They are also very happy to share that they each got a perfect 💯 on EVERY test they took this school year! In our classroom tests aren't a big deal, in their little minds they recognize tests as an opportunity to show what you know rather than to see what you don't know, we always focus on the positive. Since there is no stress, students ask for tests all the time and love showing off their accomplishments. There is never any pressure and they thrive in an environment where they are encouraged to be their and do their best. The result: their excellence shines!
Fun Friday Fantastic-ness! K/1 made Doodlebots today!!!
K/1 is practicing their fluency and expression this morning. Each sentence strip has words these students should know and or be able to decode very quickly. After each word their is a punctuation mark. Students are practicing reading these words fluently (correctly and without hesitation) while paying attention to the punctuation after the word, expressing the word correctly vocally. They are doing a great job. We are practicing popcorn words, CVC words and words that they commonly interchange when reading, such as "were", "where" and "we're". This is a great activity for families to do together at home too!
Magnetic slime fun in K/1 today!
We were bowling today with the kindergarten and working on our subtraction facts! So much fun! We started with a guided lesson and then they moved into working independently :)!
Don't forget picture day TOMORROW 5/23/17
Please have your children at school by 8:45a.m.
Also remember even if you aren't getting your own package please have your child here and ready for pictures as we will be taking class photos :)!
K/1 started learning about symmetry today...they enjoyed creating these fun pictures using the skills they learned. At home families can help your children reinforce this skill by finding objects and shapes and discussing if they are symmetrical or not. Have your child use a string and show you where the line of symmetry is on different objects in your home.
A couple more pictures with Willow! Thanks for sharing Miss Renee!
Miss Renee and her friends are learning about letter W this week! In honor of W week, Miss Renee brought in her pet tortoise, Willow! The Pre K class had so much fun with Miss Renee's friends taking Willow on some crazy and daring adventures on the playground!! Willow went swinging, a walk in nature and even helped Mr. Pat build the sandbox!! Willow ended her day with friends basking in the sun! We also learned that tortoises have rounded shells and that they don't live in water!
We are starting our unit on money in K/1 today! Families ask your children about what they have learned so far and have them start practicing counting money at home. K's are working on counting same value coins by 1's,5's and 10's and 1st grade is working on adding coins together up to $1.
This morning during free time my smart cookies started wondering more and making a lot of discoveries about magnets. Not wanting to squash their imagination and brain power, we forwent the regularly scheduled morning meeting and decided to make magnetic marble runs instead. Check out their creations! -Miss Jes

Wiggly, squirmy worms are on the docket for this week! Today K/1 created worm houses and they will be making observations over the next two weeks! When they are done they will be donating their projects to a local community garden.
Over the last few days our kiddos have been really enjoying our centers and learning new things!! They have been reading books to animals, watching a TV they built out of blocks, balancing and building extravagant castles out of blocks and even making bouquets with the flowers!! They also have been squirrel watching recently and giving monsters their color back!! These kids have been hard at work this week! Keep it up!
