But instead, you can come watch my show “Sunday in the Park with George” at SPSCC’s main theater in Olympia, or catch “Tartuffe” at Centerstage Theatre in Federal Way showcasing another member of the Guild! Tartuffe was fantastic and I highly recommend it! My show is a fun romp as well so please do come out for a good time with us! ❤️🎭
Acting practice is cancelled May 19th. Instead, we are hosting a field trip to see this play featuring one of our members! Let’s use this opportunity to observe and learn from a theatrical perspective in addition to enjoying it as an audience member.
Please purchase your tickets in advance using the link in the post! See you there!
Tickets are on sale for our next show!
Liar! Hypocrite! Nope, you’re not watching the nightly news – it’s Moliere’s satirical comedy Tartuffe. Tartuffe skillfully masters whatever persona he feels those around him want most while gaining access to whoever, and whatever, he pleases. As people start seeing behind his mask, each character desperately works to convince the other of their foolishness. Art imitates life in Moliere’s 17th century play that still resonates today. Reflect on current events and enjoy this timeless satire for the ages.

✨Monologue Day - Friday, March 31st ✨
Our next regular acting meetup will be Friday, March 31st. That day will be focused on monologues! Here are some pointers to help you prepare:
1. Pick any monologue you like from classic to contemporary, funny to dramatic, but please avoid picking a recognizable one so you can make it your own.
2. Keep it between 1-2 minutes long.
3. The internet has many resources but you can also find a treasure trove of monologues in our group guides (Tacoma Players Guild (Group))
4. If you can memorize it, that will help you go further during practice. Holding paper restricts what you can do.
5. Ask yourself: Who are you? Who are you talking to? Why are you relating this story or information to the listener? What is the character feeling? Why do you feel that way?
6. You might find it helpful to play background music that fits your monologue while practicing, the way movies have narrative music. You can also use it at the meetup.
7. Keep it natural and authentic.
I’ve been so excited for us to do monologues and can’t wait to see what y’all bring! New people are always welcome!
Improv Practice on Sunday, March 19th is cancelled due to Improv Showcase! Event details in separate post. All welcome to attend!
Acting meetup on Friday, March 17th is cancelled for St. Patrick’s Day ☘️ everyone stay safe out there!
Join us at our free acting and improv practice sessions in Tacoma, WA! Open to any level of experience. Actors meet up on Fridays and improv meets on Sundays, 6-8pm. Check out our page for more info! Must be 21+
How are practices set up? So glad you asked!
Friday’s acting group starts with some warm up exercises and alternates with stretching, movement, vocals, meditation etc then we move into improv games that focus on matching energy, finding characters, world building, syncing with partners, getting comfortable being silly/open, etc then we spend some time on performing from scripts or other challenges like conveying emotion through body language or delivering lines with intonation, accents, monologues, etc. We are always open to new exercises from members. This is peer to peer practice with room for feedback from each other to help improve each other’s performances.
Sunday Improv nights are about practicing improvisation technique through games and short/long form improv practice. Its about freeing yourself from overthinking and just letting a character or story take you. Go before you’re ready! It’s a blast and we meet at a local bar and let ourselves be vulnerable and silly.
Both are judgment free zones open to anyone (21+) from any level of performance experience who is willing to share their creativity. You get out of it as much as you’re willing to put in. It’s ‘you’ time to work on your performance technique and have fun with others doing the same!
Improv practice this Sunday, Feb 12th is cancelled due to the Super Bowl crowd expected at the Flying Boots Bar!
