🎉 ✊ Happy Juneteenth! On June 19, 1865, federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to declare the end of the Civil War and the liberation of approximately 250,000 enslaved individuals in Texas. This momentous occasion occurred two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.
The Junior League of Tacoma commemorates the emancipation of ALL enslaved individuals in the U.S. Let's reflect on history and promote unity and equality.
👨👧👦 💙 Happy Father's Day to all the amazing dads and father figures! The Junior League of Tacoma celebrates the love and guidance fathers provide to their families.

This month, we celebrate the vibrant diversity, resilience, and love within the LGBTQI+ community. It's a time to honor the progress made, recognize the challenges faced, and stand together in solidarity with the generations of LGBTQI+ people, who have fought bravely to live openly and authentically.
Together, we can create a more inclusive and accepting world for all.
Family Zoo Day!
The rain didn't stop us from having a great time and we even got to see polar bear twins!
As the official Junior League year comes to a close, we’d like to highlight Members of The Junior League’s Board of Directors whose tenure will be ending at the end of this League year. These immensely inspiring women each deserve their place in Junior League history, and we are tremendously grateful for their guidance and for all they’ve done for the Association.
And last, but certainly not least, to finish out our series we’d like to highlight AJLI President, Dona Ponepinto, of the Junior League of Tacoma, WA.
Dona has led the Association since 2022, and we honor her incredible leadership and commitment to our Mission. Please join us in thanking her for her tireless dedication and for the profound impact she’s had on our organization. Dona, you will always be an integral part of The Junior League family.
Dona is a change agent. With her steadfast and thoughtful nature, she has broken down barriers in communities surrounding her, both in her career and volunteer service. For more than three decades, Dona has worked for United Way—currently as President and CEO of United Way of Pierce County—and the Junior League—where she is a Sustainer and a Member of the Junior League of Tacoma (JLT).
