LeMay - America’s Car Museum (ACM), named one of USA Today’s 10 Best Museums in Seattle and KING 5’s 2014 & 2015 Best Museum in Western Washington, is an international destination where families and enthusiasts gather to celebrate America’s love affair with the automobile. Tacoma, Wash., facility features 12 rotating exhibits, five annual Signature Events and serves as an educational center, hosting students of all ages. Cafe is open during regular Museum operating hours.
Our Porsche exhibit is set to close in early March. If you haven't been, or haven't visited in a while, be sure to put a trip on the calendar. We have a number of rare, fascinating examples on display, including this 1997 993 C2S Vesuvio.
: 1940 Chrysler Crown Imperial Limo
On this day in 1924, Walter Chrysler introduced the first vehicle to wear a Chrysler badge, the Maxwell Chrysler Six. This Crown Imperial Limousine illustrates just how quickly the brand took off after becoming its own marque the following year. This elegant limo is equipped with a 132 hp 324 cubic inch 8 cylinder connected to an innovative Fluid Drive transmission. Its luxurious features include privacy glass, passenger footrests, and built-in storage compartments. To buyers, comfort was far more important than price, and this was no cheap ride. The example in the collection is one of just 210 built by Chrysler in 1940.

Just three years after began production, more than 14,000 of them roamed the roadways. This model features a 98 cubic inch one cylinder engine that pumps out 10 horsepower. Priced at $950 new, sold 3,650 cars that year.

: 1974 Porsche 914 LE
Introduced for the 1970 model year, the 914 was a joint venture between and to build an entry level targa-top sports car. This example is one of 500 Bumblebee editions, celebrating Porsche's Can-Am racing success.

Introduced for 1967, the hit the market as a high-class pony car. However, by the time the second generation rolled around in 1971, it focused more on comfort and style than performance. This particular example is one of just 141 ordered with a Yellow Gold finish over a Ginger interior in 1973.

Feature Friday: 1969 AMC AMX
Unleashed by AMC in an attempt to keep up with the Big 3's muscle cars, this model came equipped with a 280hp, 343 ci V8, but a 390 was available. Land speed record holder Craig Breedlove promoted the car, using an AMX to set 106 world speed records.
Don't miss Corvette Creativity: An Automotive Canvas. This exhibit examines the history of each of Corvette's eight generations and takes a close look at the customizers who have made the car their own.
The lines of the 1963 and its one year only split window design have made it one of the most desirable Vettes among collectors. Did Chevy strike gold?
