I meet with some grant writers later this month and hope to get something off the ground. I now own a home in Tacoma, WA that has been approved as a place to run our organization out of - I have a business license for it, so progress is being made.
Spokane, WA celebrates the 40th anniversary of Expo'74, the first world's fair, held in 1974, with the environment as a theme.
An original car from the sky ride is pictured. The sky ride still exists and there is a picture of my friend Dean as we rode in their newer upgraded gondolas.
Additional world's fair items arrived at the California State University August 28th from a collection I had donated to the University of Wyoming in the 1980's. UWhas too many collections and were focusing more on western history. So, after being in touch with them my former collection joined my recent one at CSU.
In it were rare one of a kind items like the sign from the Christian Science exhibit at the 1964-65 NY fair, pictured.
Now everything is together in one great place where its preservation is ensured.
California State University at Fresno, CA just acquired much of my collection including the scale model of the 1964-65 New York World's Fair I had. It needed a permanent home and my collection did, too. CSU Special Collections department has many collections but one of their major ones is world's fairs and I have just added to it for the sake of preservation and having it displayed to the public. It is in their new multi-million dollar facility.
This trailer is fantastic. I cannot wait to find this movie and see it! Finally someone has brought up the subject about world's fairs and the United States and how it has been dealing with this issue, why we don't have any now.
