Juneteenth, a blend of “the words “June” and “nineteenth,” is a critical celebration of independence, as Black men, women and children were not included as Americans declared themselves a free nation on July 4th, 1776. They were finally enfranchised in that same promise of opportunity - 89 years later.

While it would take more than a century to substantively pursue this “right for all” as a nation, it is important for us to recognize this significant date as one where we turned a monumental page, acknowledging that true freedom only begins when we all share in it.

Just days before the 2021 celebration, on June 16, President Joe Biden signed a bill passed by Congress that made the date a federal holiday. Twenty-eight states and the District of Columbia honor it.

I'm signing up for a space. Well not a space, a room. Setup will be at Dazed & Reused Artworks & Boutique on Tacoma's Antique Row (754 Broadway). If you recognize the address it's because this is where I had my shop for 13 years!!!

We're looking at being ready to go by mid June. Stay tuned for the exact day.
