Sorors of the Farwest Region, gather your family, friends, professional, and personal networks! The Farwest Regional Arts & Letters Committee extends a warm invitation to mark your calendars for a truly special occasion.
We’re thrilled to share that our very own Soror Aaliyah Williams of the Century City Alumnae Chapter is the Producer of “Black Barbie,” a groundbreaking documentary. This film speaks to the power of representation and its profound impact on our collective consciousness, a message that resonates deeply with out Farwest F.I.R.S.T. vision!
Set to make its exclusive debut on Netflix via Shondaland this Juneteenth, “Black Barbie” celebrates resilience, creativity, and the pioneering spirit of three remarkable Black women at Mattel who reshaped the narrative of the iconic Barbie brand. Dive into the captivating stories of these charismatic insiders and witness the birth of the first Black Barbie in 1980. Through their journey, we’re reminded of the significance of representation and how something as seemingly simple as a doll can shape identity and fuel imagination.
Sorors, this is our moment to rally behind Soror Williams and her incredible work. Let’s show our support by spreading the word far and wide. Mark your calendars for June 19th, and let’s make this a viewing experience to remember! This is Farwest F.I.R.S.T.!
"Service is what we do..."
This morning members of Tacoma Alumnae took action, picking up trash along the road we adopted and making our community a cleaner, greener place. Every small effort counts!
🌈 Happy Pride Month! 🌈
Join us in celebrating love, diversity, and inclusion. Whether you’re celebrating at one (or a few) parades, advocating for equity and justice or celebrating pride in solitude, let’s come together to support and uplift each other with joy and love.
We are proud to stand for inclusivity as part of our Farwest F.I.R.S.T. vision. Let’s continue to embrace and champion the “I” for inclusive in all that we do. 🏳️🌈✨
Happy Pride Month! June is dedicated to celebrating the joy, love, and fortitude of the LGBTQ+ community. As we commemorate , let us do so by honoring the lives and contributions of Black LGBTQ+ people who find themselves at the intersection of multiple forms of discrimination and have, for far too long, gone unrecognized in our community.
Delta Sigma Theta has championed equality, equity, and justice for ALL since our founding 111 years ago. In keeping with our dedication to social action, we will continue to create more inclusive environments while empowering the communities we serve and represent by fighting for the protection of human and equal rights of all people.
As the 54th Farwest Regional Conference officially begins we'd like to take this moment to thank Farwest Regional Director Kimberly M. Usher and Farwest Regional Representative Joy M. Moore for their faithful service and fearless leadership of the region. They remind us that a region as diverse as the Farwest requires Delta Sigma Theta to remain as innovative and inclusive as it was when the region was first established. Job well done, sorors!
"If you wanna see the best, you need to come to the Pacific Northwest!!"
Members from Washington, Oregon, and Alaska chapters (both collegiate and alumnae) came together to represent the newly formed Pacific Northwest Council at the Rhythm and Beats Island showcase during the 54th Farwest Regional Conference. The bond of the sisterhood was made stronger as we came together to stroll and dance! We are so grateful for the opportunity to connect with each other. And we'll definitely keep the party going at the PNW Council's 2025 Founders Day in Alaska!!

Members of Tacoma Alumnae Chapter and chapters all over Washington State held watch parties for the Netflix film "Shirley". (This pic is from just one of many watch parties our chapter held.)
Shirley is the intimate portrayal of trailblazing political icon (and member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated) Shirley Chisholm, the first Black Congresswoman and the first Black woman to run for President of the U.S, and the cost of accomplishment for Shirley herself. This film will tell the story of Chisholm's boundary-breaking and historic presidential campaign.
