Please welcome Ashley to the TDS teaching crew! She’ll be teaching adult ballet on Wednesdays at 7pm starting Sept 4th.

Ashley Turner is a new teacher to Tacoma Dance Studios with almost 15 years of experience. Ashley received her Bachelors of Arts in Dance Performance from Ball State University in 2011 and has an extensive background in performance and education.

Ashley’s training began at Dazzle Dance Studio in Muncie, IN at the young age of 6, where she first discovered her passion for dance. Her journey through the dance world has equipped her with a wealth of knowledge, which she has been sharing with students since 2006. Ashley’s experience covers a wide range of genres, including ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, modern, contemporary and hip-hop.

Her teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that every dancer possesses unique potential, and she strives to cultivate each student’s individual strengths while instilling a strong foundation in classical technique. Above all, her goal for all of her students is that they leave class feeling creatively fulfilled and fostering their love of dance.

In addition to her teaching role, Ashley is an accomplished choreographer, with pieces earning numerous awards both in the competitive dance scene and the academic world, through organizations like ACDA. Over the years, she has performed with dance legends like Savion Glover & Bill Evans and has continued her own education by attending classes at world renowned companies including Hubbard Street, Alvin Ailey, Giordano and Joffrey.

Outside of the studio, Ashley enjoys taking class at various studios around the Tacoma and Seattle areas. She also loves biking, baking and playing with her one year old daughter. She is excited to be teaching at Tacoma Dance Studios and is and looks forward to collectively growing our love of ballet!

Melissa!

Her knowledge is incredible. I don’t throw around the word “master” too often but she most definitely fits the bill. She has an insanely strong foundation in technique. On top of this she has a warm and welcoming heart. Taking a class from her is like getting a reassuring hug. She pushes you all while supporting you and meeting you at where you are in the moment. Her sense of humor keeps classes light, even though your muscles are feeling the burn.

Ava D Jor

Ava is a calm and welcoming human whose presence warms up any room she enters. Her intellect, charm, and passion for her craft show up in her performances as well as her classes. She knows how to lift you up when you need it the most. She meets you at your level and works to pull out the most fabulous you. Her classes are magic.
