Year in Review

As we approach the last day of summer baseball, we reflect.

We reflect on the good the bad, not so much ugly.

We saw so much growth in our 12u teams from start to finish. Purple had amazing alumni leadership and great parent support at games. Watching them compete, not knowing how good they truly are (common for that age), is great to see. Reminds me a lot of what our Black team used to be a year or two ago. Now Black team had the most wins in the program and was very close to the most wins in a season ever by a Reign team. We are excited to see those teams continue to grow. For those that are choosing to leave, we sincerely hope that you find what you are looking for and can continue to trust the process.

We saw a bond amongst families with our 13u team that is uncanny. Especially with everything that happened last year, it was such a blessing to bring in great families and players to make it enjoyable for our coaches to be a part of. Injury bug and lack of full roster kept us from competing as much as we would have liked but it was still fun even when games were not being played. This is a special group and I know with a couple additions this team will make a run at being a better team next year.

Our 16u teams ventured into new territory as a younger 16u team for the north and a new team from the south. Both teams lead by great mentors who care a lot about the game and the people within in it. Nowhere near the percentage of wins we wanted but I’m confident they will both be better moving forward and learn.

Our College Prep Team was very different this year as it took on a new college coach to lead the men with several great mentors behind him. Very competitive coaching staff who hates to lose that lead to some uneasiness at times with trying to do too much and at times more than they were capable of. But the love that the boys display for each other and coaches is there and the groundwork is there to add some additional pieces and move forward in 2024 with better results. For our seniors moving in to college, we will always be here for you and look forward to seeing you again at winter break!

We also saw a south end group emerge with different colors and logo but the same philosophies we see within our program. West Coast Express Baseball Club entered the scene and dominated on weekends they were at full strength. Several players committed to colleges and each teams work ethic is very impressive. Grinding outside in the winter and fall lead to toughness throughout the summer. Great families and great coaches throughout the teams lead to success. Really fun to be a part of watch compete.

People say we need to add teams. I disagree on SEVERAL levels and love where we are at. We don’t need anymore colors at the end of our team names unless representing a different region such as south teams using Silver. We have alumni sprinkled in on all our teams coaching staffs. We are in a great facility with great instructors and it will only get better. John, Jeremy and I still believe in what this program can become despite the people who have and still do try and take away from the success we’ve had since 2008. We are a college development driven program and always have been. We recognize that college dream may not be in the cards for everyone, and that’s okay. However, it is our jobs to make players and families realize that they do or move on to something else. Regardless of what route you choose to take we will always be here to mentor and listen. We are all family.

It saddens me to see some people leave but from our family to yours, thank you. To those choosing to stay, thank you as well. You won’t regret it.

During our PC Diamond Jaxx Era we were fortunate to have some tremendous players and families involved with us. A lot of which we still call friends.

Unfortunately, not all of them are around anymore. This time of year is always hard on the field but we have our teams play in the Season Finale. This tournament is to honor former alumni David Padilla and the Austen Everett Foundation. We are so grateful to see this tournament still being played today for such a good cause.

First ever online auction for Northwest Reign Baseball Club will be live from April 24th to April 30th. A lot of great items will be available to bid on such as Mariners tickets, Tacoma Rainiers Summit Club tickets, wine tasting tour, day at the races at Emerald Downs and more!

Man, I hosted the USA TODAY High School Sports awards last night with Vernon Davis who I idoled when I was in high school. And wow, hosting the show brought up so many memories of my high school days playing sports. Here’s a pic of young Robbie G either in my sophomore or junior year in high school thinking I was jacked city lol. So many great memories from those basketball days from dunks, the Green Squall ( #1 student section), a few almost bench clearing brawls, and just being on a good team that worked together to get wins!! 🏀

I believe that basketball also helped me get to where I am today, using the skills I learned from playing such a great game and applying them to the football field. 🏈

Being a multi-sport athlete in high school is a great thing, you don’t just have to focus on one at that age!

Play all the sports you desire kids!!
