If you’re looking for unique and accessible ways to give back to your community by supporting domestic violence survivors, the YWCA Associate Board is the perfect opportunity for you! Our Associate Board was developed to make supporting the YWCA mission and vision more accessible to those who donate their time, money, and talent at different levels. Juneteenth celebrates the end to slavery in the United States and it marks the second Independence Day of the U.S. It is also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day.

Did you know that the YWCA Pierce County serves all domestic violence survivors regardless of gender identity or expression? All of our programs and services, including safe shelter, are open to anyone fleeing intimate partner violence (IPV).

Abuse stems from power and control in relationships, and marginalized people are especially vulnerable to IPV because abusers will take advantage of existing forms of discrimination to maintain control. Black transgender women are especially at risk of IPV that is not only dangerous, but fatal.

As we celebrate Pride, we remember and honor all who have fought and continue to fight for a just world for all and we advocate for the health and safety of everyone in the LGBTQIA2S+ community.
