Our Story

American Employment Agency is located in the beautiful capitol city of Tallahassee, FL and is a small family owned and operated Employment Agency. We were founded by Edna Folmar and now her daughter Debbie Spitler is owner and president – proudly carrying her mother’s ideas a generation forward. Debbie has been in the employment industry for over thirty years. You can rely on her to be the face and voice behind the business you do with AEA.

AEA is not a large company. Though our size is small, Tallahassee and the communities surrounding it get our full attention. This is our one and only home – we care about the business community that we are a part of. Simply put we live, work and we serve our community here.

AEA’s History

The story of American Employment Agency begins a long time ago with the vision of company founder Edna Folmar. Edna opened the business in June of 1972 with very little financial backing, but she had tremendous skill in connecting businesses and eager workers. She also had a strong work ethic and a great determination to make the business succeed.

AEA’s History

Edna and her staff quickly developed excellent business relationships in the local community by providing quality service to employers who needed assistance in locating the “best employees” for their job openings. It is a tradition that continues to this day.

After a long and successful career, she retired in 2001, leaving her daughter, Debbie Spitler, to continue the legacy. It is with immense pride and appreciation for her mother’s entrepreneurial spirit that Debbie can say;”American Employment is a locally owned and operated family business.”Debbie remains a hands-on manager who believes the most important aspects of running her business are developing mutually beneficial relationships with her clients, staying attuned to their needs and adapting to changes in the employment industry.📷
