This week has been packed, and not just because of Halloween (though Halloween definitely played a part)! Early in the week, FSU's Italian and German program hosted two festive events: a marathon reading of Dante's Inferno and Gruselween, a German spooky story read-a-thon. On Wednesday, the Food for Thought Pantry officially opened a new donation box in Dirac Library and announced the start of their food drive competition against UF. Special Collections and Archives hosted a spooky open house, complete with chilling artifacts and tarot readings. To cap things off, the Marching Chiefs' Section X performed a spooky set of Halloween favorites at Strozier Library. With October 31st officially upon us, FSU Libraries would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Halloween!
Take a look at our lineup...if you dare!👻 This week, keep the Halloween vibes going with these spooky events. Or, do some good and check out the new food donation bin at Dirac. There's something for everyone!

Every year, before the beginning of the Fall semester, we take a day to recognize the hard work of our amazing staff and faculty. This year, our Employee Recognition Event acknowledged and celebrated the accomplishments of multiple divisions and the significant career milestones of our staff and faculty.
The event also serves as the Zimmerman and Fred L. Standley awards ceremony.
The Zimmerman award, a gift provided by our beloved retired dean, Julia Zimmerman, embodies the values Dean Zimmerman championed during her tenure, including collegiality, trust, recognition, diversity, inclusion, empowerment, service, innovation, and risk-taking.
The award was presented to Chelsea Mobley, Accounting Representative within the Admin division who has gone above and beyond to coordinate travel, procurement, and financial services for our staff and faculty; and Crystal Mathews, our Engagement Librarian, whose brilliant and dynamic campus partnerships have turned our library spaces into engaging centers for our community.
The Fred L. Standley Award, which recognizes a librarian who has demonstrated exceptional service and accomplishments, was awarded to Bryan Brown. The committee recognized Bryan's excellence in librarianship and innovative contributions to the digital infrastructure of FSU Libraries, his work transitioning our digital repository to a new, open-source platform, his outstanding mentorship, and his understanding of users' needs.
We're so grateful for all our staff and faculty and the fantastic work they do to serve our campus community.
We had a lot of fun making buttons yesterday! Thank you to everyone who came out to join us❣️ and keep an eye out for more events coming your way soon 👀
