WOW! You all are caffeine-deprived! We've got another urn of coffee brewing -- give us another 20 min or so, lest it be pale brown water.
While we had a good laugh over yesterday's April Fool's post, we did want to highlight our Library Research (LR) collection (the compact shelving units on the first floor containing our collected works and critical editions). We love these resources because they provide in-depth, comprehensive coverage of a composer's corpus, but also of different eras, geographical regions, and more. The numbers below are just a small sample of how much the library has invested in this collection and how much you all can get out of it. Have questions about the Library Research collection? Ask us!
Out with the old, in with the new we say! Goodbye to those dusty critical editions and collected works of almost any composer you could think of, hello to shiny new massage chairs!! Who really needs to consult authoritative editions when you could instead fight your colleagues for a chance to sit in a massage chair before class? Swing by and check it out today!

Last week, our Head Librarian, Laura Gayle Green, and our Head of Music Technical Services, Sarah Cohen, traveled down to Orlando, FL to attend a state-wide meeting of librarians where they each gave reports about subjects affecting the 40 public college and university libraries in Florida. Laura Gayle is the Co-Chair of the User Interfaces Standing Committee and Sarah Cohen is the chair of the Technical Services Standing Committee both of which make decisions and address issues which make your library experiences that much better! We're so proud and grateful for all the high-level work our librarians do for us and the state as a whole!

Our Story
The Allen Music Library is one of the largest music libraries of the southeastern United States and serves a tight-knit community as the heart of the College of Music at Florida State University. We provide an inviting and productive atmosphere where students and faculty alike can gather, study, and explore. Between smiling faces to greet you, Coffee Thursdays, and Random Acts of Chocolate, AML is more than a library, it’s a home.
Our collection consists of over 250,000 books, scores, audio/video recordings, periodicals, and microform in addition to extensive database subscriptions and streaming services. We can get you set up with the right equipment for your needs from computers to cameras to record players to printers. Aside from our general materials, we maintain a separate Special Collections area, which houses many rare and unique items dating from as early as the 16th century as well as an array of College of Music history including recordings, scrapbooks, and papers.
For more information on our collection, events, and policies, visit our website. No matter what you’re looking for, our capable librarians and staff are here to support your success at FSU!
