On Wednesday October 21st, the Trump Administration announced new rules that would allow ICE to quickly deport numerous undocumented immigrants. The policy change widens ICE's use of "expedited removal," a fast-tracked deportation of undocumented immigrants with no court hearing. Before the policy change, expedited removal only affected people who were caught 100miles from an international border that did not have proof of in the US for at least two weeks. The new rule change now allows ICE to use "expedited removal" on undocumented immigrants caught anywhere in the US that do not have proof of having lived in the US for two years or less. This change will deny many immigrants a day in court and an opportunity to seek legal counsel and defense.

ICE moves to quickly deport more immigrants without court hearings The Trump administration has instructed deportation agents to expand a policy that had long been limited to border areas.

A couple of months ago, ICE planned to open a 6 week Citizens Academy in Chicago, Illinois. An institution modeled after law enforcement
academies with added overview of immigration history, training demonstrations and jail house tours among others. With plans to have opened sometime this
month, the academy launch has been postponed until spring of next year, claiming it to be due to Covid. Immigrant-rights groups deny the claim, stating
the reason behind the postponement was because of the pressure they've place on the institution since the announcement of its launch. The groups protest that
the academy is xenophobic and promotes vigilantism targeting immigrant communities. Though relieved to hear of the academy's postponement, Immigrant-rights
groups are not giving up the fight againts ICE. There's still work to be done.

ICE postpones controversial ‘Citizens Academy’ in Chicago Two weeks before U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was expected to start a "Citizens Academy," the federal agency announced it was postponing it because of the coronavirus pandemic.

USCIS has put in a new policy that will practically repress applicants and further delay processing times.
Before the policy was in place, everything was based on whether or not you were eligible. It was a matter of whether or not you checked all the right boxes.
With this new policy however, officers will also have to decide your elibility based on a list of 20 possible "positive and negative factors".
Along with that, officers now have to prepare a written analysis of all the applicant's evidence. Unless the goal was to further waste time and money, this new policy
change doesn't help anyone.

Updates to USCIS Policy Manual Give Broad Discretion to Issue More Denials USCIS has imposed new requirements on its officers for exercising discretion that will increase time and expense for the agency and applicants.
