Latest status on the shop as of 5 PM Wednesday — all the roads are open. Guard is on duty. Water blown in from the storm is minimal. Looking forward to a good productive day tomorrow.

Status at the shop is quickly changing with the tide coming in — disregard earlier instructions — do not come into work today — if you are inbound to go ahead and turn around. sections of highway 41 are being closed due to the tidal flooding.

All looks good. Power is on. Very little water in shop. Should be a good day for work. Larry sees no damage in the shop.

Plan on a regular workday tomorrow and to come to the shop unless local conditions indicate you should not be traveling.  If when you do get to the shop, we determine we are not able to work, plan on show up pay and being sent home.

Also, advice on the medical insurance plan — the switch over to United is in progress and you will be getting instructions in the next few days for accessing your new card. Challenge is we are running into the hurricane, the weekend and Labor Day holiday so advice is if you have any prescriptions that need filling try to get that done before Thursday.

Job Responsibilities
• Layouts, positions, aligns, and fits together fabricated parts of structural metal products according to blueprint and layout specifications
• Safely operate overhead cranes
• Properly fit mill to bear parts such as stiffeners, base plates, and other components
• Operate cutting and heating torches
• Accurately perform complex heat corrections
• Check camber, sweep tolerances of beams and other steel shapes
• Effectively make necessary corrections per pertinent codes and specifications, with no supervision
• Perform heat corrections while adhering to procedures with no supervision
• Produce finished product that meets recognized standards, codes, and customer expectations by maintaining quality procedures and practices
• Set up complex jigs or assemblies
• Identify potential hazards and make necessary corrections
• Interpret complex documents including blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to look at weld symbols and properly prep joints per AWS standards
• Performs daily cleaning and maintenance of the area
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor including but not limited to, cleaning, trash scrap removal, and other production-related jobs
DESIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND/OR SKILLS:
• 2 years’ experience in fabricating steel preferred, or ability to demonstrate proficiency.
• Proficient in tack welding for assembly in all positions
• Ability to read blueprints or follow technical specifications

Job Requirement
• Ability to work with hands, lift heavy objects and stand on your feet for long periods of time often doing repetitive motions.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic mathematic skills.
• Must be able to read blueprints and interpret them
• Must be able to measure to specification and read a tape measure
• Welding/fabrication experience required
• Superior level layout and math skills
• Complete understanding of pre-heat functions
• Ability to set up and use a track torch is required
• Must pass a tack test
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by functioning and communicating in an effective manner with co-workers, clients, and supervisors
• Works in compliance with company safety policies and procedures

Great news power is on at the shop no standing water and no signs of major damage so we'll see everybody at work tomorrow morning. Hoping everyone fared as well at home.
