When left unchecked, that voice in your head that is harshly critical of your flaws and missteps can lead to burnout and fatigue. Far from motivating us to do better, these nagging thoughts do more to thwart our efforts. With a little practice, we can stop these negative thoughts so they don't hold us back from doing our best and feeling our best.
The ability to accept negative thoughts without judgment leads to less ruminating than if we try to suppress negative emotions. No matter what feelings come up in your mind or body, it is okay to feel this.
We will be closed Wednesday and Thursday next week to enjoy the holiday together. We'll be open Tuesday and back Saturday!
This Wellness Wednesday tip is for all of us who know that the holidays can be a triggering time for emotional eating. This holiday season, look out for yourself by checking-in several times daily. Asking yourself these quick questions can guide our decisions for the rest of the day. Everyone eats emotionally sometimes; It's part of the human experience to enjoy food and let it comfort us. Be kind to yourself and enjoy the gifts of the season.

Kindness is uplifting.

When we feel the effects of stress, that is our body's way of strengthening us for the task at hand. If we believe that this stress is harmful to our health, it can be. But if we open to the experience of stress as a helper in times of need, then that shift in perspective diminishes the negative health effects of stress.
Today is the day; don't let it slip away!

We all feel anxious from time to time. When we do, it may be helpful to stop and look at the cycle of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors surrounding the anxiety. Stopping to observe the process gives us the ability to pause, get clarity, and shift our response.
Struggling is a necessary part of growth. Working through struggle is how we build strength. Don't stop now!
When stress hits, our bodies are there ready to absorb it. A quick 5-minute body scan can release stored tension and give us our bodies back.

Ever wondered why your nose gets stuffy during a massage? It isn't from the pressure from lying on the face rest. The real culprit is pooling in the nasal passage way caused by gravity, your position, and time. For a look at how and why this happens, check out this video from massage educator, Ian Harvey. Don't give him grief for his name!
