Crafting a resume for mid-senior level professionals is about showcasing strategic impact, not just experience.

First, start with a title line and follow it up with clear, compelling proposition that highlights your unique value.

A few “Key Skills” that are tailored to the role is ok and makes it easy for recruiters to spot your strengths at a glance. Just remember that no one needs to list 30 skills.

In the experience section, go beyond listing duties, focus on achievements and quantifiable results. Show how you’ve driven growth, improved processes, or led teams to success.

Use a clean, professional layout, no fancy fonts or graphics needed. Keep it concise, ideally no longer than two pages. It’s not about cramming everything in, it’s about strategically presenting the most relevant information.

When you know it is time to polish the resume and find a new role…

We’ve all been there, tempted to add “unusual” skills to our resumes just to make it look fuller. (Though I’m not sure “raising and lowering cholesterol at will” will get you that dream job 😅).

I’ve noticed that people often overlook how important it is to protect their personal information on resumes. It’s easy to share your resume online without thinking about the risks, but details like your full address, date of birth, or god forbid your SSN, don’t need to be on there.

Sticking to just your city, state, and basic contact information is safer and gets the job done.

I often see how a strong summary can really change a resume. For executives, this summary is a powerful statement of value. Here’s what to focus on:

Leadership: showcase how you motivate and lead teams.

Strategic Planning: highlight your ability to set and achieve ambitious goals.

Organizational Vision: share your long-term vision for growth and success.

The latest jobs report shows the U.S. unemployment rate has surged to 4.3%, its highest in nearly three years. This marks the fourth consecutive monthly increase, indicating a significant slowdown in hiring. Economists are now calling for a 50 basis point reduction in interest rates by the Federal Reserve, anticipating three rate cuts this year.

Nonfarm payrolls grew by just 114,000 jobs last month, well below the 215,000 average over the past year. The healthcare sector continued to lead employment gains, adding 55,000 jobs, while the leisure and hospitality sectors also saw increases.
