I'm raising funds for Rising Star Riders (RSR) in honor of Kelly McBride's birthday. Our goal is $2,000, and even a $5 donation can make a significant impact. Kelly, the founder of RSR, has dedicated herself to providing essential services with the help of horses, instructors, and volunteers. What began in Kelly's backyard with one horse and student has grown into a non-profit 501c3 organization with a silver rating on GuideStar. Currently, we serve 35 students weekly with 6 instructors and 6 program horses.

At Rising Star Riders we open our barn doors to those in need. A grandparent thanked us for showing kindness to her granddaughter whose mother died tragically. Our instructors, volunteers and especially our horses know how to show love unconditionally. She gave us permission to share her photos from her days with us. Sending hugs to those in need. Our barn doors are open. ❤️

Hello Supporters of Rising Star Riders, It is that time of year when we invite the veterinarian to vaccinate, float teeth and check the overall wellness of our Rising Star Rider horses. Gus, Truffles, Tilly, Jahootie and Bella all need their yearly vet visit. The cost this year for vet bills has already reached over $2,000. We still have at least another $1,000 in vet costs to cover their teeth floating. As always we appreciate all of your support. This program thrives because of your support. Summer is our busy time of year for lessons so all horses need to be in their best shape. Any amount makes a difference. Thank you for your continued support.

Good morning. Jahootie had some symptoms of colic yesterday. The best news is he had an appetite and passed manure by afternoon. With any health related event we involve the vet. Jahootie is priceless and his service to our riders and connection to everyone who knows him is invaluable. An emergency vet call with treatment is over $800. Sunday, April 7, OPEN HOUSE/Rising Star Riders ACTIVITY. Come meet other students and RSR staff and learn something new about horses. Due to more inclement weather and another weekend of canceled riding lessons, we were able to secure the Equestrian Center lounge 26800 Bear Valley Rd, Tehachapi for this Sunday, April 7. All new students who need to complete paperwork please arrive at 1:30. All of our current students and prospective/new students are invited for an unmounted lesson from 2:00-3:30. If you need a gate pass please let us know with the first and last name of the driver. Please RSVP to Kelly at 661-532-8768 or your current riding instructor. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Rising Star Riders (RSR), in conjunction with Tehachapi Arts Center Co-op (TAC) present the inaugural 5x5 art show and sale. The show will take place on 5/3/24, doors opening at 5:55, all art is sized 5” x 5” and will be sold for $55.55!
We are seeking submissions of artwork for the second annual fundraising event with 100% of the proceeds going to Rising Star Riders, a therapeutic horseback riding program for children and adults with developmental, physical and emotional challenges.
This is planned as an annual fundraising event, providing artists a chance to display their talents, allow supporters to purchase a quality piece of artwork at an affordable price, gives the TAC greater community exposure, and offers a chance for the beginning of a great new Tehachapi tradition!
The 5x5 event is opening on Tehachapi Art Center First Friday art evening. Let the fun begin!
In addition to the official 5x5 artwork for sale, art created by the RSR participants & horses will be available for purchase at only $5.55!
TAC will provide participating artists with a 5”x 5” canvas (while supplies last) or artists are welcome to use their own canvas or surface. Canvases are available for pick up beginning March 25 at the TAC.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: April 29, 2024.

5x5 Art Show Fundraiser

RULES OF ENTRY
● Tehachapi Art Center (TAC) will provide participating artists with 5x5 canvas (while supplies last), or artists are welcome to use their own canvas or surface. Artwork may be created in any medium. Canvases are available March 25 and may be picked up at TAC, 116 E Tehachapi Blvd during gallery hours, 10–5PM, Monday thru Saturday.
● Please print your name, phone number and email legibly on the back of your piece to ensure you’re properly credited on the artist list.
● TAC employees will hang the art piece on walls for sale in a selected area of the store. The art will hang in the gallery for the remainder of May.
● Your submitted piece is a donation to RSR to be sold as a fundraiser.
● Finished artwork should be delivered to TAC no later than 5PM, April 29, 2024.
● The opening reception is May 3th at 5:55 PM; artists are encouraged to attend.

Today was a success! Sip ‘n Paint was great fun! People really enjoyed the painting, food and wine. Thank you Triassic Vineyards, Tehachapi Wine and Cattle Company and David Lasley for the wine donations. Thank you to the volunteers Janet, Nancy, Lucy, and Kelly, and especially Deb Stevens who went above and beyond earning her certificate to serve wine. A huge shout out to Ashley Draycott for being our awesome painting instructor. We appreciate everyone who purchased all of the items on our Amazon wishlist. We appreciate all of the participants and their creativity. We may need to make this a regular event! It was soooo fun! If I missed any thank you shoutouts, just know we appreciate you!!!

We appreciate you and your product. Truffles thanks you for the boots that keep her hooves safe from impact. Truffles was diagnosed with laminitis and founder a few years ago and we almost lost her. With the help of the vet, the farrier, her loving and caring humans, and Cavallo Boots, Truffles is having the best possible life.

The weather has been wet and wild with a few days of sun in between, but we are hopeful that March will be our month to have consistency.
