Well...things certainly didn't go as planned my local Mom's & Dads! We were set to open a location here and then wham...world-wide pandemic! So plans may have changed...but the fun will go on (plus...I'm still building a house in Murrieta so you can't get rid of me that easy LOL)!
Monday will contain an EXCLUSIVE 24-HR link to register for one of our TWO SUMMER PROGRAMS: traditional day camps (held only in July and at limited enrollment) or AT-HOME summer fun learning kits. The price to save a spot for camp will be the same price as the learning kit...this way, if we need to cancel, your child will simply receive the kit instead.

Before noon tomorrow, have your kids write an opening sentence to a story on your front sidewalk. After noon (bring your own chalk), go for a walk, ride a bike, hop on your scooter or skateboard...and add the next sentence to every story you see. Parents can join in too! :)

***HOMESCHOOL MOM...HERE TO HELP!!***
If you haven't homeschooled before...this time can probably seem a bit overwhelming (for both you and the kiddos)! So I've put together some tips, links, and scheduling advice I have found useful for kids in the pre-K to 6th grade range. Alter to your family's needs :)
1. BREATHE...it's homeschool, not neurosurgery. You will all survive...and you might even have fun and enjoy being around each other!
2. Don't try to make homeschool like "regular" school. They will whine and complain and you will find that you only need 1.5-2hrs to accomplish what they would have done at school in 7. You're not short-changing them...it's just more efficient because you only have your kiddos to focus on)
3. Create a schedule...write it down...post it...follow it (for the most part haha). I have a 2nd graded and a 5th grader. My 5th grader likes to work more independently and my 2nd grader needs me there with him quite a bit. Your kids will require different methods. I REALLY LOVE THE LEARNING GAMES APP (posted a pic below). IT'S FREE AND OFFERS AN APP FOR PRE-K THROUGH 6TH GRADE...you download each grade-level separately to their iPad/tablet. It encompasses all the subject matter required for that specific grade-level. The child has to master the content to move through each subject and earn a "sticker" that they drag to their home screen. I assign subjects and they have to show me their stickers to prove they completed it.
4. I print out math and spelling/language arts worksheets from an awesome free homeschool website: k5learning.com
Before you start your day...we start at 10:00...I print out worksheets for each child (2-3). Then have one child work on assigned subjects on the learning app independently while you help the other work on their worksheets.
Here's how a sample day looks for us (2nd & 5th grade):

Jake (worksheets w/mom)
Briee (app: math/spelling/geography/+2 free choice)
Rotate in science, history, etc. or free choice on Tu/Th
>>>10:45-11:00 Free Activity Time (Recess)
>>>11:00-11:45

Rotate in science, history, etc. or free choice on Tu/Th
Briee (worksheets w/mom)
>>>12:00-12:30 Lunch
>>>12:30-11:00
Language Arts: pick a topic and write (5 sentences for Jake/15 for Briee), include an illustration/present
>>>12:30-1:00 P.E. Play outside/ride a bike/get creative
1:00-1:30 Quiet reading, watch a cool documentary, read from a novel daily to them, science lessons, testing, etc.
YOUR DAY IS DONE...NO HOMEWORK! NO STRESS!
Hope this helps...and feel free to just add what you find interesting. Write about a country and have them create a script for a commercial advertising what that country offers. Then film it and watch! Enjoy this time with your kids. THEY WILL NEVER REMEMBER THE SPELLING TEST THEY TOOK TWO WEEKS AGO...BUT THEY WILL REMEMBER THIS TIME WITH YOU FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES!! Let that sink in :)

Meet Our Founder:
Founded by Laurie Gannon-Lotte, Rigatoni&Robots was a dream in the making for nearly two decades. With Master's degrees in both Education & Science and a former elementary school teacher, Laurie spent 8 years developing GATE science curriculum, and subsequently founded the nation's first summer camp program for kids that offered a unique combination of science, cooking, and sports that operated out of San Diego for nearly 20 years. In 2013, Rigatoni&Robots took that summer camp foundation and brought it to a year-round facility...with the founding location in Bakersfield, California. Created with two visions in mind: to bring a level of hands-on fun, energy, and excitement to STEM-related fields of study that schools traditionally tend to overlook or lack the time and resources to cover, and to offer an enrichment program that filled a void for children who have interests is building, inventing, creating, discovering, and collaborating.
