AB Content Marketing
We help narrate the stories of revolutionary brands. Let's start telling yours. Other services like graphic design are also available.
AB Content Marketing is a full service content marketing agency located in southern California. Areas of expertise include content strategy, content development, demand generation, brand strategy/management, campaign planning, and account-based marketing. Serving all industries with a specialty in technical writing. This includes data center, networking/IT, security, telecommunications, digital tr
Web design has always been something I've enjoyed. I designed (and re-designed) my own website over the years before hiring a professional team in 2022 (this month marks one year since launching ABCM's new web experience!). I also dabbled in designing sites for smaller clients and start-ups with successful results.
This summer I took the plunge and accepted a major project for a creative events company specializing in farmer's markets: a fully branded, 4-5-page custom website. In collaboration with social media and graphic design specialists, ABCM created not just the website but a primary logo, sub-mark logo, branded color palette, and ready-to-launch social accounts with ongoing management. I designed, connected, and wrote all the site copy on my own.
The results have been remarkable:
โ 10+ market vendor inquiries via the site's chat feature and contact forms in just their first month (plus dozens more via social media)
โ Improved search engine optimization with targeted meta data, specific keywords, and mobile optimization
โ Steadily increasing unique monthly visitors, of which 81% are new.
I'm incredibly proud of my talented team and honored to have been selected for this critical project. The experience confirmed my passion for web design and desire to continue bringing clients' unique web visions to life.
If you or someone you know is in the market for web design services, please keep AB Content Marketing in mind (and feel free to share the site we completed this summer as an example of our work: www.thegatheringav.com).
Excited to kick off a comprehensive content campaign for a new client this week! The campaign includes multiple white papers, blogs, infographics, and more. Hitting the ground running this and next week before (again) heading out 8/22-8/29 ๐ซฃ
A reminder that I work on a first come, first serve basis โจ Please reach out directly to me or my assistant to get time on the calendar for September/October projects! ๐
Final emails are sent, OOO message is on, and meetings are scheduled the day I return. I'm so excited to spend quality time with visiting family over the next two weeks. As we grow older and live our separate, busy lives, making memories keeps us connected.
I'm eager to create new ones and enjoy every moment. See you next month! ๐
June was lovely! For the first time in - well, I can't remember - my work schedule opened up for some downtime. We made the most of it with park playdates, farm visits, and Sea World! It was nice to relax and recharge after a busy spring season.
Summer is now in full swing with AB Content Marketing being the partner of choice for a local organization's complete brand relaunch. It's an aggressive timeline with many moving parts, utilizing ABCM's content writing and graphic design/multimedia arm, but you know we love a challenge ๐คฉ
July is booking up quickly, and with my time off this summer I anticipate it won't be long before August gets full. If you would like to partner up, now's the time to get in touch โจ
I am truly so grateful for this life being able to do what I love: applying my passions and talents to help businesses bring their creative visions to life. I've been operating ABCM for nearly a decade (๐คฏ) but that determined, scrappy writer is still at the heart of who I am and what I do. The person who did 2 internships and 6 classes second semester senior year. The person who often got to the office first at 5 a.m. The person with a penchant for arduous work.
Thank you to my incredible clients who allow me to do what I do best, as well as those who refer my services. I'm a lucky duck getting to work with such amazing people each day. I give my all so you can have it all.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
All of May's hard work came to fruition this week as my client officially launched their new website and introduced their revitalized brand image!
The organization partnered with ABCM to redo 30+ pages of web copy (some requiring edits and others full rewrites). The phenomenal results are a direct reflection of the commitment and collaboration that happened behind the scenes.
Incredibly proud to have played a role and be entrusted with such a momentous task. The client also decided to use some of the brand persona materials I created for their corporate branding guides ๐ฅณ
I truly enjoyed working with this talented group of marketing leaders ๐ช๐ป Now, for the first time in six months, I can say my schedule is wide open for new clients and projects! This doesn't happen often. If you're interested in learning more or ready to start a project, let's talk ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ป

Excited for a productive spring season ahead! ๐ผ I'm happy, as always, to try and squeeze projects in if possible so please do reach out if something urgent or unexpected arises.
While I am a technical writer by nature, I do handle several accounts outside of the tech realm including financial services, healthcare, and hospitality.
I was recently invited to contribute to the February issue of HotelExecutive's "Hotel Business Review" magazine to discuss social media for hospitality organizations. In my article I discuss why hotels need a social strategy, what kind of social content to create, and three things you can't forget when engaging via social.
The issue just dropped, check out my article and let me know what you think. Thanks to Hotel Executive for the opportunity to lend my insights!
Standing Out With Social Content: a Guide for Hotels Today's travelers not only want to see a star rating before booking; they want to really know a hotel, and it doesn't get realer than social media. How your brand engages and interacts online will say everything potential guests need to know. Whether you're starting from scratch, middling in the
As someone who transitioned from corporate to tech freelancing seven years ago, I can absolutely say working for myself has been more stable and enjoyable due to greater work autonomy and better time freedom. Especially now as a working mom, the flexibility is priceless.
This type of work is not for everyone; however, for many, it's worth considering. Companies like the idea, too. Theyโre increasingly incorporating the use of high-skilled, high-paid contractors - such as myself, an expert tech writer - into their business plans as a more cost-efficient way to acquire talent with short-term contracts (or in my case, none at all).
According to the article, some 70% of organizations say they plan to increase their utilization of non-employee labor in the next six months. I guess I got ahead of the curve ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ป
Your next tech job might be freelance A growing number of workers are going freelance, taking higher wages over benefits and job security.
A lot can happen in a few short years. It feels like yesterday I was collecting unemployment wondering what it'd be like to work for myself as a content marketer. Today I'm honored to share that I have been named one of the top 10 L.A. entrepreneurs to watch in 2023 by LA Weekly.

Thank you to LA Weekly for the recognition ๐

Thankful for another day doing what I love ๐โจ
Fun facts:
โข I used to recite poems and stories to my mom who would write them for me before I learned how to write myself.
โข I wrote my first book when I was 10 years old. I vaguely recall the plot, but I remember it being 60 pages long (I have since written 7 more!).
โข When I first learned how to write, I would hold the pencil the wrong way. I remember my first-grade teacher correcting me and immediately switching to my preferred method once she'd turn her back. I eventually got it, but still hold scissors the wrong way (don't ask me why ๐).
Here's to each of our purposeful passions, may we nurture and grow them! ๐ฑ
My business anniversary falls on a weekend this year and I'm in the mood to celebrate early, so cheers to 7 years! ๐ฅณ
This time 7 years ago, I had achieved great success in the corporate world but still had much to learn and experience. I still do. It's times like these I think of one of my favorite songs called "Future" by Billie Eilish.
The song is about self-love and -growth amidst a romantic departure but, as is the beauty of music, can be interpreted in any way. I'm in love with my future and can't wait to meet her. To 7-years-ago Allison, I say, "Look at us now." I imagine future Allison is smiling saying, "See you in a few years. I'm proud of you."
I'd be gravely remiss to not thank every person who has supported me and gave me a foothold. You all know who you are โจ Above all, I thank my incredible clients. From those who have been with me from the beginning to newer partnerships, please know how honored I am to serve you and give you my best. I look forward to kicking off another successful year together.
I can't imagine where I'll be 7 years from now ๐ฎ
As we bid adieu to 2022, here's a look at ABCM's top highlights. Cheers to 2023! ๐ฅ
Who's working this week? ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ Feeling productive after completing a 12-page technical guide!
I enjoy the week between Christmas and New Year's. It's quiet and calm. I went for a walk this morning with Ava and Ernie and enjoyed looking at all the lights and lawn decorations. There's time to reflect on the year you had and the year that's around the corner.
Whether you're working or not, I hope you make the most of this last week of 2022!
Spreading holiday cheer, one word at a time โจ
No better way to start the day than seeing a client thrilled with your work ๐
www.abcontentmarketing.com
Many people embrace the new year by choosing a "word of the year." I have decided to adopt this intentional and impactful practice.
I've been thinking about what word really speaks to how I want 2023 to feel for me. What will bring clarity and focus to who I want to become and what I want to accomplish in life? Several words immediately came to mind, but they didn't feel exactly right.
Then it came to me, and it was simple. Literally.
My word of the year for 2023 is "simple." Goals include:
โข Cultivating a minimal mindset
โข Being at my most present
โข Letting go to grow
โข Choosing abundance in love, laughs, and memories versus possessions
โข Consistently practicing gratitude
โข Spending less time on mindless practices (scrolling social media, binge-watching Netflix) and giving my energy to more meaningful things
โข Slowing down to enjoy life's simple pleasures
โข Letting go of expectations
Walks at the park. Sunsets. Belly laughs. Childlike playing. Longer hugs. Belly breathing. Healing. Restoration. A calm heart.
What a sweet vision for the new year ๐
I recently posted about how much I love gift getting, and that got me thinking. What kinds of gifts do you enjoy giving and/or receiving? My family is all about the gift of experiences (especially now with a toddler, we do not need any more toys ๐คช).
For Christmas this year, my husband and I are taking Ava to Disneyland for the first time! We were also fortunate to be gifted experiences for her birthday last month, including an annual pass to the San Diego Zoo ๐ผ๐ฏ๐ฆ
I love this list of clutter-free, experience-related gifts ๐
I LOVE gift giving, which makes this time of the year super fun and special ๐ From family (we welcomed 4 new grandchildren on both sides!) to friends to my assistant, the gifts are wrapped, shipped, and ready to be enjoyed ๐คฉ
For me, it's the intention behind the gift. It's a way of showing others I love and appreciate them, whatever they observe or celebrate โค๏ธ

We're driving up to Humboldt County, CA (where my husband was born and raised). It's a 12-hour drive without stops or traffic. We've made the drive before, but never with a 1-year-old ๐ฌ We'll be breaking the drive up into two days. I'm looking forward to eating good food and making memories with family โจ
Always thrilled to get great client feedback! ๐
Oh so thankful ๐๐๐
This time of year is my favorite for many reasons. I was born in the fall (my daughter now as well), I love the chillier weather (now that I'm a Californian and winter means a light jacket), and I love all the fun family activities (give me all the pumpkin patches and apple orchards!).
Above all, I love fall for what it represents: thankfulness, humility, togetherness, and new beginnings and growth. These values are close to my heart and my business. As I reflect on this beautiful season, I am once again filled to the brim with gratefulness and cheer.
Thank you to my incredible clients who make my job a dream. If you'd like to schedule projects for December or after the New Year, I recommend reaching out soon! โ๏ธ

My Story
As a freelance Content Marketer and former Director in the agency world, I understand what businesses want most from their content marketing partner (and don't get). I understand the inherent needs and challenges faced along the journey to success, and itโs my goal to eliminate them by reimagining possibilities and redefining standards.
I offer the one-on-one support and personalization needed to truly differentiate content creation and strategy (something that understaffed, overworked agencies can't provide) at a fraction of the cost of large corporations. I take pride in helping narrate the stories of leading brands like Avaya, Aetna, AARP and more.
