GISA extends our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of former GISA Board Chair (2010-2013), Ms. Judy Griffith, former Head of School at The Heritage School, Newnan. 🙏

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Judy Griffith's passing early Wednesday morning. Judy, our former Head of School, served with distinction for 28 years from August 1985 until December 2012. Her legacy as the Head of School is one of unwavering dedication to the Heritage School.

Judy was a visionary leader and a strong advocate for our school. Her achievements include dual accreditation, significant campus expansions, and enriched student life. She also contributed to the broader academic community, earning the GISA Distinguished Service Award in 2003.

In her own words, Judy cherished our "family-like atmosphere" and remained committed to our mission: Mens, Corpus, Spiritus, Sodalitas. Her impact will be felt for generations.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at 2 pm at Central Baptist Church, followed by a gathering in the Student Life Center at The Heritage School. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Women Helping Youth at https://www.womenhelpingyouth.org/.

We are profoundly grateful for Judy's years of service. She will be missed greatly.

Dr. Jeff Jackson and Robin Aylor were honored to be a small part of Dr. Michael Drake’s Retirement Celebration hosted by his current school, St. George’s Episcopal School. Dr. Drake, former Executive Director of GISA has served in independent education for 55 years.
