🍀Today's summer program trip was to Pine Mountain Wild Animal Safari. We saw amazing animals on the tour bus and the walk-about zoo before stopping at Pine Mountain Look-Out on the way home.

Today's 4-H Summer Program, Messy Science, was an opportunity for us to learn new science vocabulary and make some messes. Our groups created Oobleck, bouncy balls, elephant toothpaste, playdoh, giant bubbles, and took part in an egg drop challenge.

Trip number two for our 4-H Summer Program: Macon Museum of Arts and Science
🍀We had a blast learning about South American boa constrictors and chinchillas, intergalactic exploration, dinosaur fossils, engineering, crochet art, and more! 😎👩‍🚀🦖

🍀🐮Our annual 4-H Kid's Cattle Camp was so much fun! We learned about beef with Mooga, the digestive tract, by-products, feed rations, cattle auctions: behind the scenes tour, had burgers for lunch, played lots of messy games, painted a cow craft, touched a cow tongue and heart, and celebrated a birthday with a piñata! We even had the ice cream cart come out from Ridge Creek Fudge.

July is dedicated to our Summer Program for 4th-12th grade 4-H members, which provides a variety of youth activities and trips. We started with a visit to High Falls Water Park.
Due to high demand, early registration is advised to secure a spot for next year's program. Registration opens in May.

That's a wrap!! Upson County 4-H Summer Day Camp 2024 is officially over.
📢Huge shout out to LouLou's Catering & Company for providing lunch today, and Hometown Nutrition Thomaston, Ga. for providing counselor's with teas! And, The Inflatable Farm, LLC did a great job on the inflatable slide and obstacle course.
🎉We had such a great time this year! These kids have laughed, played, danced, made crafts, experimented with STEM projects, and made life long friends! I hope to see you all again next year.

At 4-H Summer Day Camp today, we learned about forestry, plants, animals, by-products, nutrition, and more from our amazing Ag community! Summer Ag Vacation!

Our second week of 4-H Summer Day Camp is full of field trips, learning, agriculture, and more!! These kids should sleep well tonight! We're all exhausted. 🤪

Cattle Drive for Hunger Grant Application
In recognition of National Hunger Action Month, the GCWA gives away several $100.00 grants every fall. Grants will be awarded to organizations in Georgia for the purpose of purchasing beef products.

Applications will be accepted until August 1st of this year. Any applications received after that date will go towards next years drive.

Thomaston-Upson County's Bicentennial is coming up! A multitude of events are being planned and will be held between October 2024 - April 2025.
Beginning Monday, we will have lots of merchandise to commemorate this monumental occasion!!!
We will have tees, hats, garden flags, koozies, dish towels, tote bags, and more!!!
Part of the profits from these items will be going to the Thomaston-Upson County Bicentennial Celebration Fund.
