A HUGE Congratulations🎉 to ALL of our ✨Young Scholars✨! They put in the work the past 6 weeks and finished up at the closing ceremony. The top 3 of each campus were announced and ours were…drumroll🥁 1st Place: En’ya Touze, 2nd Place: Emerson Toews, & 3rd Place: Wyatt Thompson! We are so very proud of all of them and the hard work they put in! Now, go get some sleep!!🥱

YSP Conference Day 1 ✅
Today was busy, busy! We gathered with ✨Young Scholars✨ from all 3 campuses. Before we kicked things off, a quick stop at the bookstore of course.🐾 Then we had a few team building exercises (dodgeball) 😂 and assorted games. Quite competitive if we might add; even amongst our own YS (see the pics)!📸 Then finally, an Escape Room challenge!🔎 Oh, and of course we had to leave our mark in true Tifton fashion with a little cooler accident!😅🤣 A fun filled day, now time to hit the hay!🥱😴

6 weeks!!🤔 Who knew 6 weeks could fly by so fast!💨 Today the ✨Young Scholars✨ presented their research project findings. We were blown away by all of their outstanding presentations!👏🏻 YS were joined by family, friends, mentors, team members, and other members of the Tifton Campus!🐾

Tomorrow we head to Athens to wrap it all up at the YSP Conference, where we will be joining the Athens & Griffin campus YS!🎉

The “Big Boss” you say?!?😬🤣 Today, at our Tuesday Tips lunch ✨Young Scholars✨were able to hear from Tifton Campus Assistant Dean, Dr. Michael Toews.🤓 Dr. Toews spoke about careers within agriculture and gave us a full background from his childhood all through school, other jobs, and where he is now. Thank you Dr. Toews for spending some time with us today!👏🏻

So, tell us about anything you want!👂🏻Today, at our Tuesday Tips lunch ✨Young Scholars✨were able to do a short presentation on any topic they wanted. We learned all sorts of neat things today along with giving them the chance to practice speaking in front of others!👏🏻 We can’t wait to see them present their research on July 9th!!🤓

Whew😅…what a FUN night!!! We had such a wonderful time at our Young Scholar Mentor & Team Pizza🍕 Party we forgot a group picture with everyone! Actually, it may have been due to the sugar rush🤭 from the most delicious cookies🍪 consumed! A huge thanks to Dr. Lisa Baxter & the Lego Forage Specialist for whipping those up for us!!☺️ We even got two former YS to compete in a Minute to Win It competition!! Thanks to all who came to party it up with us!🥳

Teams were chosen and the race was on!🏁 Each team competed in Minute to Win It competitions.⏳As you can see, there were many photos that needed to be shared!👀 The YSP Staff enjoyed watching all the fun and laughs shared as they worked together to complete their missions!!🏅 I think the YS may be a “little” competitive!😅

Whoops…we’ve been so busy we are a little behind!😅 Here are a few pics📸 from our first Tips on Tuesday lunch! For our first topic, we had former ✨Young Scholar✨, Andrew Walker present on building a poster and presenting it.🤓 YS were able to ask questions and see what their goal is as they create their very own poster!📝

**Every Tuesday the Young Scholars meet with the YSP Coordinator & Assistants not only for lunch, but to cover a topic. Topics vary from poster information, CAES information, team building exercises, and simply the chance for all YS to be together in one space.

Meet Audrey Young, a talented M.S. student in Crop and Soil Sciences! Audrey is currently working under the guidance of Dr. Gerald Henry and is building on her impressive undergraduate research experience at UGA. As an undergrad, she delved into the world of common carpetgrass tolerance to post-emergence herbicides. We're excited to see what the future holds for her research journey!

YSP has officially kicked off for the 2024 year! We held our YSP/Parent meeting tonight, and many of our YS met their mentors if they hadn’t already. We are so excited to have you all with us and can’t wait for the official first day of work!!🤓
