I LOVE THIS ANALOGY:
You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere.
Why did you spill the coffee?
"Because someone bumped into me!!!"
Wrong answer.
You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup.
Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea.
Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.
Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled.

DIGESTION
The absolute most important aspect of digestion is also THE MOST overlooked & dismissed, & that is the state of being at the time of eating. In order for the digestive process to even begin, one must be in a parasympathetic state, or a state of rest & digest.

In today’s world sugar is everywhere, in everything, in many different forms.
People are often surprised to discover how the different types of hidden sugars are included in the foods they eat. Sugar in all its forms is inflammatory.

Produce grown today has less minerals than produce grown in the past. The majority of today’s processed foods contain soy which contains phytates which bind to minerals in the body & make them unusable, specifically to zinc which is necessary for digestion & wound healing.

With fat-free diets still as popular as ever, it's no wonder people are still overweight & are unable to stick to the unnatural fat-free "diet". Fat tastes good! Fat is what makes all our food taste good. Fat is also filling & keeps us satiated for longer, so we end up eating less, but stay full longer.
HYDRATION
Did you know? Water is the most common nutritional deficiency in the USA. Approximately 75% of the US population is chronically dehydrated.

Are you lacking energy?
Maybe stop eating so much/often.
Constant consumption means your body is constantly expending energy on digestion instead of having energy available for other activities - like living life. Think of how you feel after Thanksgiving dinner: lethargic.
Eating several times a day means your metabolism goes through cycles of breaking down carbs & turning them into blood sugar. Eventually it is used for energy or stored in cells for later use.
After blood sugar is expended or stored by the body, it drops, taking your energy & mental performance down with it. This triggers a hunger signal to make you eat & the whole process starts all over again. The constant up & down cycle of blood sugar throughout the day stresses your metabolism & results in overall lower energy levels & mental performance.
Stop eating so much starch/sugar/carbs. This gives you a quick surge in energy, but leads to an equally quick crash & burn.
Fats typically provide more than half of the body's energy needs. Fats from food get broken down into fatty acids, which travel in the blood to energy-hungry cells. By eating more fat, you eat less food overall, & stay full/satisfied longer.
When using fat for energy, fat is digested slowly & must be sent to the liver for processing (to ketones) before it can be used for energy. This process happens steadily & consistently with no up & downs, meaning you have more energy, feel better & your concentration levels & cognitive function are also higher.
Intermittent fasting allows the GI tract to rest & repair while in a state of fasting. This is when your body is able to use fat stored in your cells as fuel, so you're burning fat instead of storing it. The main benefit from fasting is that it makes your metabolism work a lot more efficiently.
Need more energy? Try reducing carb consumption, increasing fat consumption (both saturated & unsaturated), & try intermittent fasting by setting a timed "window of eating".
