Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17

Set your New Year on the fact that we have a good creator who cares about every detail of our lives. Do not try to do it alone. Do not miss out on the gifts.
May 2024 be a victorious year for you in all aspects of your life.

Face masks and the Corona virus

I hope this post finds you well and that you are continuing to take care of yourself physically, emotionally and spiritually. As we begin to restart the economy soon, there is a big risk in getting complacent with social distancing and losing all the ground we have gained in slowing the spread of the virus.
There will most likely be a natural seasonal slowing of the virus in the summer months and a fairly high probability that it will make its rounds again in the fall.

To wear a mask or not? Many Americans are somewhat resistant to the idea of wearing a mask- as if it violates some sort of liberty or simply feels restrictive. The bottom line is that masks do help reduce the spread of the virus and can be used strategically to go into some places where transmission of the virus is a higher risk. As much as you may not like using masks, they are for the protection of others as well as for you.

My wife is a clothing designer and has gone into production of 100% cotton face masks that are lined, washable, and have adjustable straps that avoid the ear to make them as comfortable as possible. She has also hired some local sewers and is gifting 10% of the masks to those in financial distress. These are not medical grade masks, but they are the type that are recommended for the general public to wear. They are also making a version that goes around your ears that you can add a filter to- if that is what you are looking for.

You can order directly from my wife's website at www.tatiandme.com

A new perspective on Covid-19

I was asking a few of my patients to come up with an acronym for the word Covid, to give a new perspective of the stressful times that we are dealing with. My patient came up with, “The Cornerstone of Victory, in times of Darkness. “
That cornerstone is of course Jesus- if you are not familiar with scripture:

Ephesians 2:20-22 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the LORD. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

Isaiah 28:16-17 So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic. I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line; hail will sweep away your refuge, the lie, and water will overflow your hiding place.

In Isaiah it says those that rely on Jesus will never be stricken with panic. The scriptures also say repeatedly do not fear-in fact 365 times. How is this possible you ask? Is it even downright irresponsible not to be afraid or to have fear in such troubled times? To have fear is a natural human response and is beneficial in many ways-like avoiding danger. Scriptures also say that fear of God is the beginning of Wisdom. So fear is normal and in some cases very good but the kind of fear that scriptures is referring to, is the kind that is detrimental to our health and well-being. Wisdom and courage are the opposites of ignorance and fear and in times like these we need to be mindful of the dangers, secure in our trust of God and Wise to make good decisions.

With regards to the Corona virus in general, see my previous post on things you can do physically to help your body. It is also important to honor our government leaders advice to help stop the spread of this virus. There are many hopeful drugs currently being trialed that will hopefully stop this virus dead in its tracks and vaccinations are not too far off as well.

What you can and should do during this time;

1. Spend time with and get to know your Creator and the author of life, if you do not know Him or even if you already do.
2. Spend more quality time with your spouse and kids or family in general without electronic devices. Bring out the games and the puzzles.
3. Learn and practice prayerful meditation. Read Philippians 4:8
4. Eat better and continue to exercise
5. With social distancing in mind- reach out to loved ones, friends and neighbors and see if they have any needs. Virtual get togethers are healthy and good.
6. Clean, build, plant, create- time to get to those projects that have been on hold or dedicate time to new inspirations that are your calling.
7. Pray for our leaders. Whether you dislike our current leaders or love them- we are all called to pray for them so we can live peaceful lives. 1st Timothy 2:2

I hope we all grow in love, faith and charity and become more like the people that God is all calling us to be.

Blessings,

Dr. Shaun Dyler

With this Corona Virus threat -besides the usual basics of frequent hand washing, hand sanitizers and reducing exposure to people who are sick....I recommend taking 5000 IU Vitamin D daily for adults, 2000 IU daily for kids, Vitamin C with bioflavinoids- 1000 mg daily and incorporating bone broth 3-4 times per week. If you do get a sore throat, colored mucus or chest inflammation, antibiotics may be necessary- even if it is a flu virus as secondary bacterial infections are very common-check with your doctor. Finally if you do get sick, bed rest, staying hydrated, avoiding dairy and sugar and a fever reducer such as Tylenol are essential as is staying at home to avoid spreading the virus to others.
