Jessica's Garden over at our Wellness & Recovery Center is really taking off! They've already used some of the lettuce and herbs for guest meals - we're hoping they'll bring some Fried Green Tomatoes over to the main office! ๐
We are so grateful to have her on our team as she always brings good energy and insight, and works her hardest to make our program the best it can be. She has a huge heart! (and she cooks delicious food) ๐
Jessica has worked as a Recovery Coach at the WRC for two years and empowers herself and others with the mantra:

Need to talk? We are here. (419) 442-0580 every day between 8am and Midnight

June is Pride Month!
Despite advances in individual-level treatment strategies, school-based programs, and state-level policies that address LGBTQ mental health, there remains a critical gap in large-scale evidence-based prevention and intervention programs designed to support the positive development and mental health of LGBTQ youth, and in turn, adults (Fish, 2020).
Fortunately, Pride is not only about celebrating our differences & our love, but also a reminder to advocate for ourselves and others so gaps like these can become smaller.
If you or someone you know needs to talk, our peers are here as self-identified LGBTQ+ members and allies. Give us a call between 8am and Midnight at (419) 442-0580
Check out the Thomas M Wernert Center educating Toledo on what Peer Support is all about!
Like our friends at the TMWC, the Wellness & Recovery Center utilizes peer support in an effort to promote hope and healing to the guests that stay here for respite.
๐ฃMental Health is Health๐ฃ
We have been seeing countless posts about the impact that yesterday's events have had on each individual person.
If you or someone you know needs a safe space to talk - we are here, we feel it too.โค๏ธ
"An experience of collective pain does not deliver us from grief or sadness; it is a ministry of presence. These moments remind us that we are not alone in our darkness and that our broken heart is connected to every heart that has known pain since the beginning of time." - Brene Brown
Another post for Mental Health Awareness Month!
What does Mental Health mean to you? ๐ค
And don't you ever doubt it! ๐ฑ
In case you haven't heard, May is Mental Health Awareness Month!
Everyone has Mental Health. It is an essential part of the wellbeing of our entire bodies and lives. Normalizing taking care of our Mental Health provides us with the opportunity to receive early intervention for mental illness, creates a sense of empowerment rather than shame, educates us on signs of mental health decline so we can recognize it both in ourselves and in others, and promotes equality between physical and invisible illnesses.

Neighborhood Properties has been a proud member of the 419 community since our introduction in 1988!
This quote seems to be speaking of relationships with other people, but by taking a closer look, we see that 'someone' can easily be replaced with 'something'.
Addiction and some other mental illnesses can become a part of us. They disguise themselves as protectors and friends. For those reasons, sometimes we can miss them, and that's okay.
We just have to remember that they take more than they give.
The thing about mistakes is - they never feel good. They tell us we aren't good enough, smart enough, or that we are undeserving.
They lie to us.
The truth is that making mistakes is necessary for us to become the best person we can be. They provide us with direction. They remind us there is still more work to be done. And when we make the same mistake over and over, it just means we aren't ready for what it's trying to teach us yet, and that is okay. As long as we are trying, we are still moving forward.
