We are thrilled to be one of the leading partners working on this project that will benefit seniors in our community!
We are proud to share that a planned $32 million development for low-income seniors got a major boost, as pre-development financing from LISC Toledo set the stage for transformation of a shuttered elementary school into 86 affordable apartments.
LISC Toledoโs $500,000 investment is supporting the property assessments, architectural, and engineering design for the Thurgood Marshall Senior Apartments, an effort led by Lucas Metropolitan Housing, the Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio, Inc., NeighborWorks Toledo Region, and Community Building Partners. When completed, it will help address the critical need for high-quality, affordable housing for Lucas Countyโs underserved senior population, while also positively contributing to the surrounding community.
Project Highlights:
* 86 Units: The Thurgood Marshall Senior Apartments
will provide 86 units of affordable senior housing.
* Historic Preservation: The project preserves and
reactivates the historic Webster Elementary building,
constructed in 1922, which served as the home of
Toledo Public School administrators from the 1960s
until recently.
* Supportive Services: The development will offer
supportive services such as benefits counseling,
nutrition education and connections to other
supportive services to enhance the well-being of its
senior residents.
Working hard on one of our goals of the year, Diversity Equity & Inclusion trainings! We kicked it off with our first sessions with Sheila Eason of Elevate People Solutions

Last week, for our quarterly All-staff meeting, we were all ears for updates from our leadership, highlighting our team's continuous efforts to serving our mission & vision and making them a reality.
However, we listened with our hearts to Mr. LaShawn Martre of Sons of Nature Lawncare & Landscaping as he narrated his personal story of growing up at an LMH property and all the childhood memories he had of the grounds, staff, neighbors & friends. His story touched us deeply and we are proud to have been a positive part of his growth journey to a successful business owner and family man!
Do you have an LMH story you would like to share with us? DM this page and we'll coordinate!

The Morning Mix at Proclaim FM was overtaken this morning by a wonderful Community Action Day led by Christina Rodrigues, Executive Director of Mom's House of Toledo and a variety of community leaders who stopped by to be interviewed!
Including our very own Interim President & CEO, Rachel Gagnon, in addition to Metroparks Toledo's Matt Kilam, The Program Inc's Luke Gable, The Toledo Zoo's Shayla Bell- Moriarty, The Art Tatum Zone's Dr. Calvin & Christine Sweeney, Lucas County Children Services' Shelby Cully, Life Chapel & Rusbelt Coffee's Ethan Chumchal and Isaiah 117 House' Jennifer Bohnsack.
What actions will you be taking today to better our community?
We are proud to share that after years of planning and preparation we closed on the financing for the Park Apartments yesterday. This paves the way for an immediate groundbreaking and construction to follow.
With this development we are able to bring to our community 45 apartment homes for young adults who may be experiencing housing instability or are aging out of the foster care system and in need of assistance transitioning from high school to adulthood. This development represents a historic opportunity to bring stability to the lives of young people by offering not only housing, but also a comprehensive list of social service programs and supports for the residents.
This milestone is years in the making and would not be possible without the hard of work of our team, partners, funders and community supporters. Stay tuned for updates and pictures as we build a stronger community together.

Notice: The Affordable Connectivity Program is ending
The $14.2 billion Congress initially made available for the ACP is running out. Due to the lack of additional funding for the ACP, the Federal Communications Commission has announced that April 2024 will be the last month that the ACP households will receive the full ACP discount.
ACP households are not required to stay with their internet company or continue to receive the same internet service .
Households can decide to opt out (no longer continue internet service after the ACP ends) by contacting their internet company and telling them they would like to drop their internet service. If households wish to continue to receive internet service, they can:
Select another, lower cost internet plan from the same internet company, or
Start an internet service with a different internet company
ACP households will not be charged termination fees or fees for changing plans with the same or different ACP internet company.
Please note that this program is run by the government and not by LMH, this flyer only serves as an FYI only.
