Great show today! Thanks to Sherwood Lodge for having me... and to Sherri Cepress and friends for being there for support. We had a grand time, even played an extra half hour. We'll see ya on 7/14!!
Hey everyone.... if you're looking for a fun afternoon, I'll be playing at Lake Sherwood Lodge in Nekoosa tomorrow afternoon from 3-6pm. It's going to be a nice day for music and frivolity on the water. The food and drinks are really good and I'll be serving up some great tunes as I return to the stage this summer only a few more times. Hope to see you all! 😃
This is why I don't stop writing. You just never know who's listening.......❤️
Ok, so it was a "temporary" retirement....
JUNE 9TH will be the first of 3 'encore' shows I'll be doing at Lake Sherwood Lodge in Nekoosa this summer. I will perform again on JULY 14TH, and return on AUGUST 24TH to perform (for the second year in a row) for their Customer Appreciation Event. All shows will be from 3pm-6pm. If the weather permits, I'll be playing out on their patio. I'm looking forward to wrapping up a long era of performing at this great venue. If you haven't seen my shows, this is your final chance! If you have seen my shows before, come on out and have some fun one more time. I really hope to see many of you this summer! ❤️ 🎶 🎤 🎹

Music challenge #6....catching up on some old requests. Here's a great tune from the Susan Tedeschi Trucks Band that I took a stab at. I didn't sway too far from the band's original arrangement, it's just too cool to mess with. It took me a while to figure out the meaning of this song, but it's a unique metaphor of transformation and redemption, as the song speaks to taking risks, 'walking that line,' and 'freeing the heart' in order to move forward in times of change and new possibilities. I just thought I'd use some photo shots from prior live shows as a backdrop for the video. I hope you enjoy my rendition of "Midnight In Harlem".
[Disclaimer: This is a cover arrangement, I do not own the rights to this song].
So, the great thing about songwriting is that on one day, you can compose a real tearjerker, but then on another day, you can have some fun and make up stories and set them to music. Here's my brand new Sunday Funday music video! ENJOY and thanks for listening!
So, I couldn't let Valentine's Day pass by without a music video. I'm happy to share this new song today, not only because I composed it less than 24 hours ago, but we're only a month and a half into 2024, and many of us have already experienced the passing of dear friends and loved ones, as well as a few popular celebrities and performers. So how ever you celebrate this day... with hearts, boxes of chocolates or red roses...let's not forget to spread a little love and share our hugs and kisses every day with the special people in our life. You just can't wait 'til it's too late..... 🌹💝
So, last night, I did a thing......
And....I made it to the FINALS! I kept it under wraps until this round was done, but it sure would be very cool to have some 'crowd supporters' on February 3rd when I go head to head (or rather, song for song as it were) against 15 other contestants for the top prize of $1,000 in the The Voice Karaoke Contest !! Bantr Resort in Rothschild is the place...more details to come!! ❤️
I'm looking forward to starting the year with a performance at Bethany Home! It's always a special treat to meet and share my music with the senior community, so it's sure to be a good time!

So I spent the morning looking through some of my Facebook "Memories" from New Year's Eves past. One of them had a list of resolutions (not mine, of course!), another post featured a song I wrote in dedication to all those we lost throughout that year, and a post where I must have had one doozy of a head cold and spent NY's Eve tucked home in bed.
Every year that passes, we all get a little bit older, maybe a little bit "wider", and hopefully a little more wiser, too. We can always look back and see where we've been, but nobody has a crystal ball to see exactly where we are going. Oh, we have our goals and we dream our dreams, but like John Lennon sang, "Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans."
The future seems to come faster as we age, and soon we find there's more time behind us than in front. My wish for 2024 is to keep moving onward, and stop looking backward - to enjoy every moment, in the moment.
"Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin' into the future." There's no rewind or pause in life - we're all livin' it "fast forward"...... ML ♥
Hi everyone!
We are knee deep into the Christmas season (and thankfully not much snow), and soon we also will be facing the end of another year. 2023 went by pretty fast for me, with relocating back to Wisconsin, buying a home and working on some landscaping and other home improvement projects through most of the summer months. I was able to complete and release a few new tunes this year, but didn't get as much songwriting or studio time as I might have liked.
But I do have some significant plans for the new year, including of course, more writing and recording, but also I will explore doing some regular podcasts and ‘virtual’ gigs. I'd like to open the floor to my fans and welcome any music ideas or suggestions for topics for my podcasts and I'll be happy to cover them. I will post on Facebook and on my website once I have a schedule for everyone to follow. So you won't want to miss any!!
In the meantime, I wish everyone a most blessed holiday season and a safe and happy new year! Thanks again for your support of my music in 2023. I look forward to sharing more with you in 2024!
❤️

Happy Thanksgiving -- thank you for your continued support of ML music!
Just in time for Halloween today, I'd like to debut a spook-tacular new musical treat. Excited to be back working with my Nashville lyricists, David and Vaughan, and today we're featuring a ghoulish 'femme fatale fable' that we hope you'll enjoy!!
I totally agree with this statement......
*************************************************
“There’s not gonna be another Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, or KISS because there’s no longer a record industry. There’s only chaos.
The next 18 year old kid who plugs into his Marshall amplifier won’t be able to make a living because record companies don’t pay advances, royalties or promotions anymore.
It’s the freckled face kid who feels he or she is entitled to steal music without paying for it. Because in their logic you don’t need money because you’re rich being a musician. That’s the problem with downloading and the internet. Now everything is for free.
From 1958 - 1988, you can name at least 100 bands or artists that became iconic. Everyone from The Beatles to Elvis Presley, to The Rolling Stones, and many more.
From 1988 until today, you won’t be able to name one iconic band. And don’t tell me Nirvana. They had two albums and were done.
The nail has been put into the coffin of true Rock and Roll."
Gene Simmons of KISS
I've been given a task to choose 10 albums that greatly influenced my taste in music. One per day for 10 consecutive days. No explanation, no reviews, just album covers. Well, since I have such a diverse taste in music, it took me nearly a week to go back and recall all the different artists and records I listened to over the years that not only enhanced my record collection but also helped me develop and inspire my song writing and composing. I don't really have the time to do a post for 10 days (sorry, Joe for not following the rules...😄) so here are my selections:
Wright was one of my original musical influences way back when I was taking piano lessons in my teens. He was a pioneer in recording songs entirely using keyboards, creating a new sound that sometimes surpassed that of 'real' bands. His synthesizer-driven style always appealed to me and inspired my keyboard-based songwriting.
Maggie Mae and the Sawmill Creek Band...9.2.23
So we DID IT!! The first live music event on the grand Lumberyard stage in Kendall, featured Maggie Mae and her band. We worked the sound system and other than a slight computer glitch, everything went well and sounded awesome!! The crowd was great, and the music, along with the sun, heated up the grounds and it was a fun time had by all! Looking forward to the next show(s)!!
This is it...it's finally time for the music to play in Kendall !! I'm excited to "break in" the Lumberyard stage tonight after the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:00pm. Tomorrow afternoon, Kendall's own "Maggie Mae and the Sawmill Creek Band" will perform from 2:30-5:30pm. It's a free show, and it's sure to be a hot time, both with music and sun, so come out and bring a lawn chair and show your support for this local new venue!
Another great gig in the books! Thanks to Sherwood Lodge and Adams County Humane Society for bringing in a very warm and welcoming crowd for my debut at the Lodge for their Customer Appreciation event. Special thanks to my good friend Sherrie Cepress and her buddy Tim for taking time to come see my show! Rumor has it that I'll be invited back at the Lodge again, so I guess I done good today!
..and the hits just keep on comin'!
