Friendship chains 💫
This week, our camp children explored the dynamics of good and bad friendships. The kids got creative, decorating paper strips to celebrate their favorite people and cherished memories with friends and family. You're invited to play a friendly and fun game of Pickleball this summer! Help end family homelessness in the South Bay.
Family Homelessness
Also known as "invisible crisis," parents and children experiencing invisible homelessness are less likely to be seen on the streets than chronically homeless individuals or homeless veterans. In the last year, 11,620 children under the age of 18 were without homes. One in every 30 American children will go to bed without shelter or access to basic needs by kindergarten. These children face higher levels of emotional and behavioral problems, increased health risks, and poorer school performance, risking a cycle of homelessness.
How Family Promise of the South Bay Helps
Our Case Management and Prevention/Diversion Programs have helped place over 300 families in permanent housing since 2015. The Children & Youth Program continues to provide trauma informed care and programs for the children affected by homelessness.

How Family Promise of the South Bay is transforming lives:
👉 In the summer of 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Family Promise of the South Bay held its first virtual Summer Camp. This program provided enrichment activities for the children in our shelter and allowed parents to continue working and seeking permanent housing.
👉 Virtual Summer Camp 2020 launched the Children and Youth Program, providing ongoing mentorship, counseling, and tutoring support for families in our shelter and graduate programs.
👉 In 2021, Family Promise of the South Bay held its first in-person summer camp for children in our shelter, graduate families, and referred community children. The camp continues to feature volunteer-led classes and weekly field trips, providing a supportive environment while parents work and maintain housing without worrying about daycare. We are now hosting our fourth annual summer camp, focusing on emotional resilience, confidence, and identity through trauma-informed lessons.
