Mass Liberation provides holistic empowerment to individuals returning to society after serving time

Today, we had the privilege of launching a transformative 4-week Reentry class, welcoming returning citizens as they prepare to reintegrate into society. This is our chance to empower them, embrace them, and show them love, while equipping them with the knowledge and life skills we’ve gained through our own experiences. It was particularly inspiring to see that half the class were women. This moment was a proud milestone for our entire team—coaches, managers, interns, CJL participants, and leadership team—coming together to welcome our new class with open arms.

Mass Liberation would like to honor one of its own today. It was an honor and privilege to witness my friend and brother, Joel, be resentenced and have his life sentence vacated. It was deeply moving to see the justice system at work, correcting the harsh and unjust laws that once vilified our youth. The judge’s closing words resonated with everyone in the room: “People often think that leadership is about running for president, but true leadership is about taking charge of your own life and looking inward. That means taking control of your life, and Joel, you have done that. Congratulations on being a light that shows the way.”

Today I witnessed the most heart warming support. Ricky H, Mass Liberation Alumni and Liberty House Alumi jumped into action and did not hesitate to support Alexis a young-man taking his drivers test. Ricky walked him through the process and helped Alexis feel encouraged and confident. Alexis, passed 🙌🏼
