Oil Painter, poet and ponderer.
I have some fun news for your Friday… The Trillium Block Print Collection is now available on my website! 🙌🏻 I know some of you have been patiently waiting who weren’t able to make it to the pop-up last week, so thank you!
And just in case you haven’t heard about this new endeavor, here is the story…
I have been working with a small block printing studio in India this spring to create a collection of handmade products inspired by my trillium paintings.
Each piece is hand printed by artisans using their traditional wood block technique. The trillium design is carved into individual blocks and hand-pressed to create a layered pattern.
The result is an artistic, one-of-a-kind design. We created 5 handmade offerings that I am calling the Trillium Block Print Collection.
*Quantities are limited so make sure to place your order soon. ✨
Let’s meet up in Leland, MI this weekend! There are only three more days of my week-long Pop-Up. It has been really fun so far! I especially love the slower pace (compared to a one day show) that has allowed me to have real conversations with you guys.
It is a great opportunity to see my work in person and view the different options I offer. I have original paintings with me, canvas prints and LOTS of paper prints in all different sizes.
So take pictures (and measurements!) of your space and come on in. I would love to help you choose something you love for your home.
The Art Shanty doesn’t have a specific address, but here is how to find me…
I am in Leland, MI on the Fishtown Docks in between the Cheese Shanty and Carlsons. Easy, right?😄 Hope to see you this weekend!

(June 19-24) I am going all out and am bringing so many great things that I can’t wait to share with you. So grab a friend and meet me in Leland, MI this week.☀️
(The Art Shanty is on the Fishtown Docks between Carlsons and The Cheese Shanty. )
Now this is a fun one to share… introducing the trillium tote bag! Hand block printed, fully lined and with a zipper pocket inside to hold valuables. ✨
These will be available in person first at my week long pop-up in Leland coming up June 19-24th. Grab a friend and meet me at the art shanty on the Fishtown docks. I will be there each day from 11-4pm. 🚣♂️
Introducing…the trillium block print collection! I am so excited about this you guys! I have been working with a small block printing studio in India to create five handmade products that I think you will love. Here is a peek at the trillium napkins. ✨
Each piece is hand printed by artisans using their traditional wood block technique. Inspired by my paintings, the trillium design is carved into individual blocks and hand-pressed to create a layered pattern. The result is an artistic, one-of-a-kind design.
I can’t wait to share a peek at all 5 offerings in the days ahead. All of them will be launching in person at the pop-up in Fishtown coming up on June 19-24th. 🙌🏻

Something exciting is coming soon! 🙌🏻
Now that’s a gallery wall! 🤩 What do you think? Should we start framing art in ornate gilded frames again?
Grab a friend and join me at one of these upcoming art markets & pop-ups 🙌🏻 The first show coming up will be the Spring Art Market at the Dennos Museum here in TC on Saturday, May 11 from 9 to 4 PM. This also happens to be the day before Mother’s Day and a great time to get that perfect gift. Hope to see you there!
I am really excited about the trillium blooming this year. My mom is coming to visit in May to see them (and us;) and I can’t wait for her to experience them in real life.
My favorite hikes to see trillium are:
1: Treat Farm Trail in Empire
2: Bahle Park Warming Hut in Suttons Bay
3: Pete’s Woods in Arcadia
Please tell me, where do YOU love to go to see trillium and other spring wildflowers?
It always feels good to wrap up a big project and dream about the next one. The paintings from the new Flora & Fauna collection are now varnished and the ones that have sold are being shipped out to their new homes today! 🙌🏻 Some of my very favorites from this collection are still available. Come and check them out on my website. ✨
Hi! For those new around here, I’m Rebecca; a landscape oil painter living in a lakeside town in Michigan.
I began oil painting when I was fourteen, taking my first class at an art league in the Chicago suburbs where I grew up. I went on to study art in college and continued learning with several artists over the years. I have been painting professionally since 2015.
I paint in my home studio with Dave working remotely in his office next to me and our pup Penny nearby.
My husband and I have three teenage boys that I think are pretty amazing. They are growing like weeds and yes, so is our grocery bill.
I find endless inspiration in the beauty that surrounds us here in Northern Michigan. I just finished a new series of paintings that I am calling the Flora & Fauna collection that will be released next Tuesday, April 16th at 12pm EST on my website.
I am putting together two collection previews that will go out this weekend. A pretty one that will live on my blog and one with all the details. If you would like to receive that one, you can hop on my email list in my stories.
P.S. I also wanted to say, thank you for being here. You are not a number to me. This space is full of beautiful, real people. Many of you I have had the privilege to get to know over the years. And I am so thankful for your kindness, support and friendship.

I love that each painting in this new collection will be finished in a solid white oak frame handcrafted by local artisan .👌🏼
Still Waters” 18x24” oil on canvas
A part of the Flora & Fauna collection coming next Tuesday, April 16th EST to my website.

I recently read a little book written by a real life Shepherd. In it, the author describes that in order for his sheep to lie down and rest, four conditions have to be met. 1. They have to be free from all surrounding fear. 2. There can’t be any conflict between any of the sheep. 3. They have to be unbothered by any pests or parasites. 4. They need to be well fed and have their thirst quenched.
Sounds a lot like me and what I require to find rest as well.
I love how he said that his greatest delight as a shepherd was watching his sheep rest contentedly under his care. (A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 by Phillip Keller)
“Haven” 16x20” oil on canvas- a part of the Flora & Fauna collection releasing on Tuesday April 16th at 12pm EST on my website. 🐑
It’s time to mark your calendars! ✨The spring Flora & Fauna collection will be released on Tuesday, April 16th at 12pm EST. There will be 10 new framed oil paintings available.
These new pieces are really meaningful to me. This week I have been working on titles, photography and writing about the collection. I can’t wait to share all of this with you soon.
If you would like to see a detailed collection preview, make sure to hop on my email list. I will be sending that out a few days before the 16th.👌🏼
I keep returning to this subject. There is something incredible about the woodland understory coming back to life each spring. Trillium burst through the soil like a great cloud singing witness to resurrection and new life.
This 18x24” trillium oil painting will be part of the new collection being released Tuesday April 16th. Stay tuned for more details and sneak peeks. ✨
There is a farm just down the road that we pass each time we leave the house. We have become very fond of the flock of sheep that roam the pasture. We especially love to watch the lambs following their mamas around this time of year. This is inspired by one of those mornings when the light and the colors were just so lovely and the sheep were peacefully grazing. 🐑
I enjoyed painting the meadow so much that I decided to paint it again, but larger. These paintings are inspired by Mitchell Creek Meadows here in Traverse City, a favorite place near home for a stroll.
I remember one warm day reflecting on how lovely the layers of trees, different types of grasses, plants and the creek were. It was all alive with color, movement and life. I feel the landscape itself gave me permission to play with color, to keep my brushwork loose and organic and to allow flowers to spring up in my painting where they wanted to be.
Only a few more hours to save 20% on all prints! ✨ Come and check out the full selection on my website.🙌
Which camp are you in? Do you prefer a mat or no mat with your art? I love seeing how you choose to frame and pair your prints! There are just so many ways to do it well.
Also, if you haven't heard the news yet, I am having a Print Sale! I realized I hadn't had an online print sale since 2021, so I thought it was about time. ✨ Save 20% on all paper and canvas prints through Tuesday! 🙌
If you are heading into town for a visit this spring or summer, and would like to see some samples of my canvas and paper prints, make sure to stop in to the new . There is now a nice selection of my work up in their beautiful space. And make sure to try something from their farm to table menu while you are there. Everything is locally sourced and incredible! You can enjoy a full meal, stop in for wine tasting or just grab coffee and a treat. 👌🏼
Have you ever stumbled upon a sleeping fawn curled up in a meadow? It is one of those moments you never forget. Trying to keep your distance and your voices low while peeking over the tall grass to get a closer look. Moments like these have a certain reverence about them.
This new collection is beginning to take shape. Can you spot the sleeping fawn in this one? 🔎
“Top of the Trail” (currently available) is inspired by the path less traveled. Those harder climbs that my boys often take first and lead to the best views. This original oil painting is framed and ready to gift. It is also the art created for the first page of Let’s Go North! ✨

Let’s make 2024 the year that we try something new!🥂
Yesterday was a big day for me. I tried downhill skiing for the FIRST time in my life! My boys have been asking me to give it a try for years. But learning new things can be scary, and I had my list of fears to overcome. I decided this was going to be my year to give it a try! I had the sweetest instructor, (who also happens to own an ice cream shop) who guided me each step of the way. And by the end of the day, I had skied down the bunny hill at least a dozen times and only fell twice. 🙌
I wanted to celebrate this big win in a fun way, so I am offering 24% off on my painting course this week! If oil painting is something you have been wanting to try, then let 2024 be the year you do it! I will help guide you each step of the way. And I promise, it is not as scary as it seems. Use the code PAINT2024 now through next Monday. Let's do this, together! ✨
This month, I have been working on a special project. Something you guys have been requesting for quite a while. And I am so excited to share it with you. Introducing, fine art for your Samsung Frame TV!
Using professional images to capture the original paintings’ brush strokes, colors, and texture, these curated collections look amazing. Each painting was carefully selected and formatted to enjoy on your Samsung Frame TV.
There are two collections to choose from. The Morning Light Collection and the Lake Collection. Each bundle includes five premium images of favorite paintings that I think you are going to love. Come and pick your favorite - link in stories. .
I was fascinated by the Fresnel lens during our tour of the Point Betsie Lighthouse a few years ago. These lights are a collection of glass prisms used to bend a beam of light into a powerful magnifying lens. This beam of light can then be visible up to 28 miles away. Scroll through to see a pic.
"Point Betsie Lighthouse" is my first lighthouse print! Created for the children's book Let's Go North. Now available in my shop.
I wonder if the birds know there is a winter storm coming too? They cleared out the bird feeder especially quickly this week. Thankfully Dave noticed, so they are stocked up again.
I am still smitten by the new prints in the shop. Especially this one- “Raspberry Patch”. Don’t you think it would look so sweet in a girls room?
Shown here in beautiful home.👌🏻
Facing the rising sun, I feel its warmth and my need for it. This winter light feels nourishing and gentle. I notice the last of the clinging beech leaves illumined and fluttering. The snow dampening sound and making the forest silent. There is only the sound of my boots and my breathing. I let in the winter air and I let the light in too. It fills and refreshes me. And I keep moving toward the light.
“Toward the Light” - available as a print in my shop.
Happy new year friends! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. We enjoyed some winter hiking, played lots of board games and read books by the fire. Now I am easing into the new year and taking time to reflect back and dream about the year ahead.
p.s. I am down to my last box of calendars, so now is a great time to grab one before they are gone. ✨
“I got my book yesterday and immediately sat down and read it through. It gave me all the feels of my own Michigan summers, my kids and now my grandkids. The picture of fishing in the rowboat makes me teary. I have two boys and now two grandsons and a husband with a love of fishing. It could be a picture of them on our own little lake. Thank you for a beautiful “memory” book. I hope everyone who loves it up north will find this book” - Lisa L.
It has been so exciting seeing you guys get your books this past week! Thank you for the sweet messages you have been sending! They mean the world to my brother and I. (Like this one- that Lisa was so kind to let me share with you..)
I will be bringing signed books with me today! 🙌🏻 Come and visit 10-3pm (Sat. Dec. 16th) There will be a great group of artists and makers you won’t want to miss! 💫
