Sierra CAMP
Starting in 2022, all #SierraCAMP content will be shared on Sierra Business Council's page.
Sierra Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Partnership (Sierra CAMP) is a cross-sector partnership helping communities in the Sierra Nevada address climate change. Sierra CAMP promotes and facilitates regional climate adaptation and mitigation strategies, serves as a climate action capacity-building hub for Sierra/Cascade communities, and fosters urban-rural connections to build statewide investment in our region's communities and natural resources.
Attention followers! Because Sierra CAMP is managed by Sierra Business Council, this account will be closing soon (Summer 2022) in an effort to streamline all of our communication and outreach through SBC's other social media accounts and further bolster connection and collaboration among our audiences. ABOUT THIS SESSION:
While rural regions across the U.S. face distinct climate impacts, we see common challenges around communicating climate risk in these areas that stem from rural economic interests and hurdles, the relative isolation of rural communities, their financial capacity, distrust of decision-making authorities, political polarization, cultural resistance to change, and other barriers.
This fireside chat will explore the catalysts that drive climate adaptation successes in rural California, including legislative incentives, the economic and cost-saving benefits of proactive climate action, and the urgency of unprecedented climate crises such as wildfires.
The Strategic Growth Council (SGC) will release draft guidelines for the Regional Climate Collaboratives Program (RCC) and host a series of workshops to explain the proposed program requirements and gather feedback. Check out the link below to register for workshops in your region.
