Vitamin C Chlorophyll alkalizing cocktail: celery, ginger, mandarin oranges & cilantro. Alkalizing your body, or maintaining a proper PH level in your blood is a huge factor in preventing illness. An overly acidic system is the best host to all kinds of unwelcome diseases. Mandarin oranges are highly alkaline, as is ginger & celery. Any dark green leafy plant is alkaline & full of chlorophyll, helping restore a healthy PH balance.
I cut up 6 organic celery sticks (celery is particularly gnarly when grown conventionally), 5 mandarin oranges, 2-3 tbsp fresh cilantro & a small chunk of fresh ginger. Add water & blend! This can be a really pulpy one, so if you don't want to be chewing on it, filtering out the pulp is the best way to go! Enjoy! Your body will love you for it! # plant-based # clean eating

Making a strong tea bath of arnica and helichrysum flowers to pour over my head where I banged it pretty hard yesterday and it's pretty achy and swollen. After simmering the flowers in water until the color is a deep gold, I will strain out the flowers, and then scoop a bit out and pour over the area affected throughout the day. Another good option is soaking a small towel or dishrag in it and laying it over or wrrapping it around affected area. I've found arnica & lavender to be very effective for contusions (bruises to areas including the brain = concussion). Helichrysum oil is also amazing but this will be a first using the dried flowers ( and my are they dry and crunchy, no wonder the EO is so expensive, I don't know how you can extract oil from this, lol).

Today's alkaline infusion: H2O infused with ginger, fresh sage & dried mint leaves. This is so great for hot days! Especially in this 100+ degree desert dry heat, whoa! It's important to stay hydrated or you will start to feel like you're losing your mind, for real! Keeping a pH balance in your body that veers towards the alkaline is important, as a system that is very acidic can be a very greedy host to all kinds of ailments. Some things that make your PH more alkaline: green leafy veggies and plants (sage, mint, pine, rosemary, oregano, nettles, alfalfa, kale, spinach), lemon & lime juice, cayenne & ginger. I love adding sprigs of fresh edible plants in my water and letting it infuse a little bit before I drink it. I'll leave it in a mason jar and keep filling it (refrigerate while infusing or when not drinking) until it's no longer fresh... Sometimes up to 3 days depending on what's in it. Great way to stay hydrated, boost immunity and keep your body more alkaline. 🌿🌱

Ocotillo is a really cool Southwestern desert plant. On the top left you see the branches being processed for a decoction (strong tea). The bark is used to treat pelvic congestion, which manifests in the body as delayed menstruation, overactive & other bladder issues, bowel retention, hemorrhoids, varicose veins in pelvic/upper thigh region, sluggish digestion, lymphatic cogestion, prostate enlargement & other dysfunctions. We gathered the bark after the plants flowers had fallen & leaves had shed so we have only the bark to work with. This is not a problem since the bark is used to treat these conditions. To make a strong tea, it's best to peel back the outer bark, careful not to take the green layer of inner bark along with it, and boil the inner bark, after breaking it into smaller pieces. It makes a stronger tea than simmering outer bark without peeling it back. You can include the outer bark as well, it just doesn't seem to extract as easily in boiling water, as it does, say, in alcohol, which is why many prefer to tincture the bark and use it as medicine in that form.

Plants of the Peruvian Amazon Series #1. Savila, commonly known as Aloe. This plant is sold by the 'leaf' and the leaves, of you're not familiar are these long beautiful & heavy succulent leaves full of aloe vera gel. You cut or crack open the tough skin and the goopy stuff inside is a treasure of beneficial plant medicine. Many here scoop out the gel and put it in the blender with sweet fruits (since its taste is VERY bitter) to make a juice and use it to treat stomach complaints from indigestion to constipation. It's cleansing & helps produce bowel movements, also soothes inflammation of intestines, stomach & any mucous membranes. It's used externally for burns, and any kind of skin irritation, and i used it today to condition my hair. While many hair conditioners say they contain aloe, there's nothing like the real thing. Best way to condition is to slice up the aloe gel into pieces and throw in the blender with water. Blend into a frothy frappe and pour it over your head. You don't need to rinse it out. If i had it i would add a teaspoon of coconut oil to it. As a deep conditioning treatment, id also add fresh avocado, banana & flax seed gel (the end result of boiling flax seeds in water).

Anise & Cinnamon Tea with Chipotle & Agave. In the cold winter months it is so important to strengthen your immune system by adding warm, spicy drinks to your routine. These spices help clear your sinuses, kill bacteria, improve your circulation, and are highly antioxidant. All that and they taste wonderful. Coming back to the colder temps after traveling in the much milder climate of the Southwest for 3 weeks, my body is demanding chili pepper (and a lot of it), and spicy anise & cinnamon to keep my body warm and stave off illness. This tea was made by boiling dried anise & cinnamon, pouring through a strainer, adding chipotle powder and agave syrup. I couldn't be more excited to drink this. If I had some lemon in the house, I'd definitely squeeze some of that into it as well!

Every so often you really score when it comes to flavoring kombucha! This one turned out super good! I infused pomegranate, White Sage Leaves & Jasmine Flowers for 3 days! Wow! This trio is heaven!v Smooth, crisp and just enough sweetness. And the red color is so pretty too!! I also like experimenting with different natural sugars, and this time around i used date sugar, which interestingly enough, really makes it carbonate very well, which can be problematic at times (making it fizzy enough, naturally). Highly recommend all booch makers try this flavoring trio! Up till now the only ones i made that wowed me like this have been lavender (alone) and cherry vanilla flavor made with fresh cherries and ground vanilla bean. That tasted like cream soda, I could have had several bottles a day and never get sick of it! Yum!!

Antioxidant alkalizing anti-inflammatory detox juice that is also amazingly tasty!! We've got 2 twigs of turmeric (for inflammation), a handful of cilantro (detox, especially heavy metals & alkalizing), 4 lemons (alkalizing, vitamin C rich), 1 lime (alkalizing, vitamin C rich), 1 small piece of ginger (detox, anti-oxidant, pretty much good for everything) and 2 small slices of jalapeno! Yes, I said jalapeno (antioxidant, vitamin rich)! Wow, now I can handle spicy so if you can't don't try it, but it was the perfect kick to this healthy drink! I added some water and agave to sweeten! I'm addicted to the jalapeno now, I want to add it to all my juices!!
