As we end National Career Development Week, we are reminded of the theme set by NCDA for next year's conference: "The Interconnection of Career Development and Mental Health: Strategies and Techniques to Promote Well-Being and Success". Our Fall Kickoff event, with speaker, Dr. Melissa Venable, was so helpful in identifying some of those strategies/techniques that not only improve our work for our clients, but make our lives, as career practitioners, better as well. Pictured here at our Fall Kickoff are some of our board members with our speaker: (L-R) Claudia Rossi, Lynn Harrison, Dr. Melissa Venable, Debra Ruddell, Janice Ashkin, and Conquaya James. , , , ,
Great presentation at our Fall Kickoff event. Thanks for all those who attended in-person, and especially to our speaker, Dr. Melissa Venable. I think we all learned some new tools and tips that will help us better manage the ever-changing technology we can use both with our students/clients, and to better manage our own careers.
Don't forget - still time to register today. We look forward to seeing you on Friday. https://www.thegcda.org/event-5439721

With National Career Development Month coming up in November, our state chapter is again wanting to participate in the NCDA Poetry and Art Contest. We need your help reaching out to potential participants.
Do you have children in primary grades through high school? Also, think about extended family members with art and writing interests. They can even live in other states if they choose to enter through our state contest. Prizes will be given, in the form of gift cards at the state level, and then it will compete at NCDA's contest for their top prizes with winners shown at the NCDA annual conference.
Or do you have professional contacts that are middle school or high school counselors or teachers? Please let us know so we can reach out to them in the month of November with information about how to participate. Contact Alicia Philipp at (770) 823-2563 with your suggestions or questions.
