I practice mindful movement which increases bodily awareness, mind-muscle connection, and ultimately can result in more overall strength, mobility and flexibility.
I know these look cute and fun…however, let’s take a look at some of the ingredients so you can make an informed decision when a choosing a snack. 🫣
Corn=Genetically modified and highly processed (will increase insulin quickly)
Vegetable Oil=Oxidizes and may cause systemic inflammation (lethargy, pain, brain fog)
Maltodextrin=Highly processed, flavorless carbohydrate that will increase insulin quickly
Monosodium Glutamate=Flavor enhancer that acts as an excitotocin (will overstimulate neurons in the brain leading to the suppression of feeling full…you will keep eating)
Artificial color (Yellow 5 & 6)=Causes adrenal tumors in animal studies and are banned in other countries
Sucralose (aka Splenda)=Made from dextrose, this artificial sweetener is almost exactly like sugar and will increase insulin quickly
*Raising insulin quickly with these types of ultra processed foods will negatively affect weight loss efforts and may result in a drop in blood sugar later, leading to more sugar cravings.
A better choice for snacking would be a whole, unprocessed food; or, at least choose foods with 5 ingredients or less and make sure there are not added sugars or vegetable oils (e.g., Meats, raw nuts, organic fruits & vegetables, yogurt). 😋

Let’s say that your resolution is, “I want to lose weight.”
SMART Goal would be, “I will lose 10 lbs of fat by March 31st by eating whole foods, strength training 2 times a week and doing 150 minutes of cardio a week.”
Be patient with yourself and celebrate the small wins. 🫶🏼
You did not pick up bad habits overnight, and it takes several weeks to develop good habits.
Start with one or two habits and focus on what you can ADD rather than what you can SUBSTRACT.

💥 TIP TUESDAY 💥 SAVE these 5 tips for the next time you start to doubt yourself or your progress!
1. Be kind to yourself 🫶🏼
So what if you missed a workout or didn’t complete a few sets? You put in the effort and deserve praise and recognition!
2. Compare yourself to YOU! ☺️
While it can be inspiring to witness someone else’s journey, avoid comparing your journey to theirs. Be the best version of you and that is enough.
3. Follow the 80% rule ⚖️
Let’s say you set a goal to complete 5 workouts a week for the next 3 months (60 workouts), but life happens and you miss a few. Completing 80% of them means you completed 48 workouts (and probably got some extra needed rest)!
4. Challenge yourself appropriately 🏋🏼♀️
Increase your weight, sets and reps gradually over time to achieve progressive overload (muscle strength and size), and keep in mind your muscles can handle more than your joints so be kind to them.
5. Fitness is a lifetime journey, not a 90 day fix! 🗣️🗣️
Incorporate movement you enjoy, try new exercises, take classes with friends, hire a trainer and have a blast taking care of your beautiful body!

💥 TIP TUESDAY — protein edition 🥩🍳💥
Finding a way to get all your protein in can be overwhelming if you don’t know where to start.
I’ve broken it down into three categories to help you out —
1. How much protein do you really need?
* 0.7 g per pound of body weight is sufficient for most active adults 👩🏼
Example: 150 lb person would need 105 grams of protein per day
150x0.7=105
*Going slightly above or below this amount is unlikely to enhance or hinder progress
2. What should you start your day with?
* Start your day with 35-40 grams of protein
3. What are some sources of protein to buy?
* Animal: Chicken, beef, pork, fish, eggs, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, whey protein
* Plant: Tofu, edamame, tempeh, plant-based meats (choose the least processed whenever possible), plant-based protein shakes
Whether you eat first thing in the morning or fast until lunchtime, starting your day with a hefty dose of protein can fuel you throughout the day and curb late night sugar cravings! 🍬🍪
