THE NEIGHBORS KNOW – The owner of a business in the complex near one of our locations Is a car enthusiast. NO JOKE – The owner of a 2017 GMC Denali truck came in asking us to replace his failing factory radio. CAPTURE THE ACTION – Since dash cameras have become more popular, Audio Express makes it a point to stock a wide selection. When the owner of a 2024 Ram came to us looking to add some protection and peace of mind while the vehicle is parked, we had lots of answers. CUSTOMER’S CHOICE – The owner of a 2021 Challenger came to us because he needed to reinforce the security system. We explained the advantages of options such as a T-harness available for Viper and CompuStar systems, but this particular owner had the Viper 5305V on a different vehicle and liked the features. He wanted us to integrate the same system into his Challenger, and that’s what we did with the help of a Viper DB3 for data integration. Everything worked perfectly and he can still use his OEM key fob to control his Viper security system. He likes the two-way pager, and doesn’t mind carrying the two remotes. NEW-TRUCK FEELING – The owner of a 2017 F150 came to us saying he wanted that new truck feeling without having to buy a new truck. We knew the new head unit Linkswell with a 15-inch monitor would be the perfect match for him. When he picked up his truck, he was blown away with how different his whole interior looked. He was ecstatic about the wireless Android and Apple CarPlay, as well as being able to integrate his factory camera on the large tablet display. The one feature that really intrigued him was being able to get internet in his vehicle as well. He now has a list of plans for his truck and one will be to come back and upgrade his audio. BIGGER BASS – What do you do if you have the owner of a 2016 and newer Ford crew cab truck who wants more bass? That was the request recently from a truck owner. We thought, well, you can put two subs under the seat. But this owner had heard those and wanted more! The solution was a box that could house a full-size 10- or 12-inch woofer. In this application we chose a JL Audio W6-12 powered by a JL Audio XDM600/1. The amps are on a custom board that mounts behind the back seat on the brackets. This allows us to mount all sizes of amps without putting holes in the back wall of the truck. The owner loved the addition of bass and the new sound frequencies being hit by the JL woofer. AUDIO EVERYWHERE —This big RV needed a sound overhaul so our experienced team put together a killer audio package for the owner. We replaced the old radio with a new and improved Alpine ILXF-511, giving the owner great audio control, a big screen and wireless CarPlay. For sound, we added two pairs of Kappa Perfect 600 speakers powered by a JL Audio XDM600/6, six-channel amp. We did a hidden subwoofer under the sofa with a JL Audio CS110tg-tw3 powered by the XDM600/1. Then, on the outside, we installed two JL Audio M6-880x-l-gwgw single speakers. WE HAVE WHAR”S MISSING! — The owner of a brand new 2024 Ram 1500 with the premium factory system came to us wanting more thump. When our experienced team member went out to take a listen, he knew exactly what the truck was missing: sub bass. After going over some types of music with the customer. we knew he needed something that would get loud and take some abuse. Two Kicker 12-inch L7T subwoofers powered by a Kicker 46CXA12001 bass amp were decided upon to handle the low notes. BRONCO SPIRIT – Recently, we were given the opportunity to work on a 1972 Ford Bronco. The owner came to us looking for an audio upgrade, and boy did he get one! At our Broadway Location in Tucson, a customer brought in his 2019 Chevy Colorado after a less than satisfactory installation was done by "the other guys". He had asked us to check out what had been done and why the thousands he had spent, sounded worse than when he brought it to them in the first place. Our professional installation team discovered quite a bit was wired improperly and that there were quite a few broken panels through the vehicle. So, in light of this unfortunate situation, we took what was broken and made the most of it by adding a Kenwood Excelon's Hi-Res XR9015 5 Channel amplifier along with Audio Control's LC7I Signal Processor. The panel behind the seat was torn up in a bad way, so we cut the panel and built a custom mounting board to recess the amplifier and processor making the installation seamless. He has since been back to tell us that his neighbors HATE the system, but that it makes all the time in his truck worth every second.
