On June 28, 2024, the RENEW Team and summer interns attended the annual STEPS 2 STEM Research Exhibit in support of our summer intern, Brett Baumgartner at the University of Arizona Health Sciences building. We celebrate our summer interns as they present their research experience in our lab. We wish all our best to Brett and his future endeavors in STEM!
KEYS interns got to observe a biological collection and processing done in the ORCHID Study while gaining laboratory skills in dried blood spot card and pipetting plasma samples. At RENEW Team, it is our goal to ensure our summer interns gain outstanding laboratory experience while working alongside with researchers at the University of Arizona.

On June 15, 2024 the RENEW Team attended the Tucson Juneteenth Festival at the Kino Sports Complex. The event celebrated the 54th Annual Juneteenth Festival and featured food, games, and live entertainment. We are happy to have been part of this event. Thank you for having us!

2024 Summer Internship at the RENEW Team has begun! We kicked off the first week with our summer interns to learn about research and laboratory activities for the ORCHID Study. Interns were able to receive hands on practice in completing a dried blood spot card and pipetting plasma for our biological collection. We are thrilled to welcome our incoming summer interns soon!

On May 21, 2024, the RENEW Team celebrated the end of recruitment of the ORCHID Study by painting Orchids. Thank you to everyone on the RENEW Research Team (past and present) for recruiting over 70 pregnant people with and without opioid use disorder to participate in daily data collection through postpartum week 12.

On May 18, 2024, the RENEW Team attended The MOMS Tour at the Kino Sports Complex to celebrate and connect with families with new babies of Tucson. This event was catered as a baby
shower to moms and dads to experience family-fun activities, maternal health education and awareness, and entertainment. We are happy to have been part of this event, thank you for having us!

On April 27, 2024, the RENEW Team enjoyed participating in the annual Take Back the Night Tucson Resource Fair and the 5K run/walk hosted by the University of Arizona’s Office of Public Safety and Survivor Services. The community event featured resources and awareness to support survivors of sexual assault.
