Happy earth 🌎 day!
And in the same mindset of saving and taking care of one another, remember to contact us via Facebook messenger with your pets that need to be spayed/neutered!
There are too many dogs and cats without loving homes and food to eat.
Please help your community by having your pets spayed/neutered! 🐕 🐈⬛
Stann Creek Humane Society is still here and very active with spay/neuter. We are a spay/neuter only clinic.
Because clients send Facebook messages sometimes weeks in advance of our monthly clinic, we always have plenty of participants on the list when clinic weekends come around.
If you would like to be added to the waiting list for spay/neuter, please send this page a message with your name, phone number, how many and what kind of animals you have for surgery.
Thank you!

Thank you all for your patience as we continue to work to get the newly formed Stann Creek Humane Society up and running.
Unfortunately, we have met many snags along the way to our reopening, which have been costly. But, we are doing our best to continue to serve the public with free spay/neuter surgeries. Many of you have written to be on our waiting list, and we have been contacting people on our waiting list to schedule them for surgery as we are able. If you have a cat or dog that needs to be spayed/neutered or cut, please send a message to our Stann Creek Humane Society Facebook messenger and we will put you on the waiting list. We want to help you get your animal cut as quickly as possible!
The SCHS staff was able to spay/neuter many of the animals on our waiting list last month, and we hope to be able to do more soon. Until we can re-open our clinic with regular hours, please message us with your spay/neuter needs. Please include your phone number so we can get in touch with you.
Please remember we are a free spay/neuter clinic that runs on private donations. We receive no government funding.
If you would care to contribute, please feel free to send your PayPal donation to [email protected], or message us if you would like to send a check.
We appreciate all of you !
The Hopkins Belize Humane Society was very fortunate to have Caribbean Property Consultants (CPC) let us use the land we were on in Hopkins for 14 years completely rent free. As an organization, we eventually knew that one day we would need to leave that very valuable commercial property. CPC very generously donated one of the clinic buildings, also. Without the generosity of CPC and our close partnership with Hamanasi Resort in the early years, we likely world not be the organization we are today.
The humane society has moved the clinic buildings to a donated piece of property in Hope Creek along the Hummingbird Highway, and plan to resume normal operations as soon as we are able. The clinic buildings have been moved, but we still have to get all utilities hooked up, purchase a vehicle, reinstall our security system, make repairs to the buildings, put all the equipment back into the buildings, purchase medical supplies, etc.
I know that change is hard, but as an organization, we are doing our best to get back to normal operations as soon as possible.
Belize and Stann Creek have been so fortunate to have had HBHS performing free spays/neuters in the Stann Creek area and beyond for 14 years, helping thousands of animals at no cost due to the generosity of our donors, and we plan to continue our free spay/neuter services as soon as possible.
As you may have noticed, we are rebranding the organization as Stann Creek Humane Society to better represent the population we serve.
This move has not been easy or inexpensive. We are grateful to Silk Grass Farms, CPC, Hamanasi, ADS, Hopkins Bay Resort and many, many others who have assisted with funding.
We anticipate needing to raise approximately $25,000 additional funds to get us back to running at regular capacity.
We know there are so very many worthy organizations to donate to for your end of year giving, in and out of Belize. I hope, if HBHS has affected you in the past, you’ll consider donating to help the new Stann Creek Humane Society start serving the people and animals of Belize.
PayPal donations are accepted through the Belize Economic & Ecological Development Fund (BEED Fund) at [email protected]. Please make a note that it is for the Stann Creek Humane Society spay/neuter clinic.
If you are old fashion, like me, and would like to send a check, please send a check made out to BEEDFUND to the address 1401 West Sage St., Tucson, AZ, 85704.
Thank you for your consideration, and for past and future support.
Happy Holidays,

Dr. Baptist will join us this coming weekend for a two day spay and neuter clinic Sat. March 26th, and Sun. March 27th, 2022.

HBHS would also like to take this time to thank Dr. Jessica Braun, Curt Brown and Mabel Braun for coming back to Belize this past week and helping our team do 88 spay and neuters in 4 days. This has made a huge difference in our wait list and we can not thank them enough for not only this clinic, but so many others in the past 13+ years of their service to HBHS. MUCH appreciated.

Mango loves HBHS & Hamanasi! He was a tiny kitty in a lonely world before rescued by a Good Samaritan last fall. She took great care of him, then brought him to HBHS, where he was neutered, vaccinated and adopted by 💕Hamanasi Resort 💕Then HBHS & Hamanasi fans voted on his name for a fundraiser… raising over $5000bz for HBHS and giving him his super new name! Mango has fit in well to resort living, making himself personal tour guide to many guests around the grounds. He may be the first one to greet you coming out of your room in the morning, or following you in at night for a wee cuddle. He says Hamanasi should have a can of cat food in every room. 😻
To donate to the HBHS spay/neuter clinic to help other kittens and puppies like Mango, you can donate in person at Hamanasi, or by sending a PayPal donation to [email protected].

Bruno did his part. It's hip to be snipped !
Miss Daisy, shown below, who was spayed at the age of 4 months old, would like to announce our monthly free spay and neuter clinic with Dr. Baptist this weekend, Sat., Jan. 29th and Sun., Jan. 30th, 2022.
These clinics are booked up well in advance so if you would like to be added to our long wait list, please inbox us on our fb page with your name, community where you live, your phone number, how many pets you want to have spayed (female) or neutered (male), and approx. age of each pet. You can also call 667-0667 if any questions or concerns. Please keep in mind it could take several months before we can get to you but we are trying our very best, with what we have to work with.
If your pet needs to see the vet for other health reasons, please CALL the morning of each surgery day and we will give you an approx. time to show up, as we are trying to social distance the best we can.
Stay happy and healthy, everyone.
We at HBHS would like to send out a reminder that we are not a full service vet clinic and we are not open every day of the week, nor a 24/7 emergency clinic. Currently, we are only open one to two days per month and that is to primarily do spay and neuters. We always advertise these clinics on our fb page as well as many others, a day or two before they happen.
We do not have a full time vet on staff and if you drive out of your way and just show up at our clinic during an emergency, there will be NO ONE there to help you and in some cases, you are losing valuable life saving time.
Pinned to the top of our page is a list of just some of the full service vets in this country. Please take a look and put them in your phone. You might just save your pets life by doing so.
Also a friendly reminder that if your pet is currently having health issues, do not wait until Dec. 24th or over the holidays to have it taken care of. Most full service vet clinics are either closed over the holidays or have very limited hours. Vets and staff need time off too and most of them take their yearly vacations during this time.
Stay safe everyone.
