The event included a personalized farm tour and farm-to-table dinner enjoyed over a Heart Talk. The program concluded with live music by Desert Thunder.

👨🏻‍⚕️Dr. Luis R Leon, MD, FACS | University of Arizona | Pima Heart & Vascular- Vascular Surgery

Dr. Leon has authored over 120 peer-reviewed publications and over 10 book chapters. He has given over 250 lectures both nationally and internationally. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Vascular Surgery and other peer-reviewed Journals. He is a member of several professional societies, including The Society for Vascular Surgery. Within these societies, he has served in several committees, including the American Venous Registry (AVR) – Venous Stent Committee, along with being a member of several industry-advisory boards. His academic productivity earned him several awards, including the very prestigious E.J. Wylie Traveling Fellowship Award in 2007 and an Associate Professor of Surgery degree at the University of Arizona, since April 2008.

He is a Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at Tucson Medical Center, a Clinical Preceptor at the Midwestern and Franklin Pierce Universities, in Phoenix, and is a current member of the Adjunct Faculty Clinical Associate Professor of the Division of Clinical Education of the Andrew Taylor Still University (ATSU), School of Osteopathic Medicine of Arizona.

Jennifer Clark, PA-C, MBA | Director of Vascular Services | Pima Heart & Vascular - Vein Specialist

👩🏼‍⚕️PA Jennifer Clark served in the United States Air Force from August 2000-March 2011. While serving, she completed both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Physician Assistant Studies in 2007 through the Interservice Physician Assistant Program (IPAP) University of Nebraska Medical Center. She most recently completed her MBA (Masters of Business Administration) through Baylor University in 2020.

One year after completing her Physician Assistant training, she forward deployed to Afghanistan with a team of US Army Green Berets for six months. After the deployment, she returned to Tyndall AFB and completed the rest of her commitment to the USAF. In 2011 Jennifer separated from the service and began working in vascular surgery. She has been treating patients with vascular conditions for over thirteen years, with a niche focus on venous disease, and finds the specialty highly rewarding.

She has published articles in Journal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Journal of Vascular Care. She is also Clinical Preceptor of Physician Assistant students with Franklin Pierce University. She has a strong interest in both clinical and research aspects of venous disease.

Doctors at TMC Arrhythmia Center are using state-of-art technology to treat tissue around the heart that can cause life-threatening arrhythmia.
Dr. Darren Peress was the first to perform the procedure with the FARAPULSE, Inc. Pulsed Field Ablation System.

“Pulse field ablation with Farapulse technology offers a promising new way to treat heart arrhythmias with greater precision and safety,” said Jitender Munjal, MD, Medical Director of the Electrophysiology Program. “This will improve the lives of many in our community.”

The FARAPULSE, used to treat atrial fibrillation (AF), is an innovative alternative to standard thermal ablation treatment. During a traditional ablation procedure, a catheter is guided to the interior of the heart and generates extreme temperatures to destroy targeted areas associated with abnormal heart rhythms. The FARAPULSE relies on tissue-selective, non-thermal electric fields to ablate heart tissue and avoid damage to surrounding areas.

“We at TMC provide excellent electrophysiology care for Tucson,” said Dr. Munjal. “We perform the highest number of ablations in the state of Arizona.”

This new technology is beneficial to patients since it has been proven to reduce complications and improve safety, according to FARAPULSE developers, Boston Scientific.

TMC Electrophysiology Program treats conditions such as atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia and complex epicardial ventricular tachycardia.
