Sons of Orpheus WELCOMES NEW SINGERS! Rehearsals for our Holiday concerts are now under way!
Sons of Orpheus has begun its 2021–2022 Season and WELCOMES NEW SINGERS! Our first regular rehearsal begins on Wednesday, September 1, at 7 P.M. Rehearsals take place in Nicholson Hall on the campus of St. Cyril of Alexandria Church, 4725 E. Pima Street. It is easiest to access their large parking lot from Swan Rd. The hall is next to the southeast corner of the parking lot.
Because of COVID-19, we are taking several measures to provide a secure environment. We are asking all singers to be fully vaccinated. We also take temperatures at the door with a contactless forehead thermometer. A person’s temperature has to be below 100.4º to enter. And we require each singer to sign a Liability Waiver.
If you are interested in singing with us this year, please contact our Founding Artistic Director Grayson Hirst at (520) 484-3743.
Dear Friends,
When we were forced to postpone our six spring concerts in March of 2020, we never dreamed it would be more than a year later that we would still be dealing with the effects of the pandemic, preventing in-person concerts for the spring of 2021. But here we are now looking at our 2021-2022 season. So far we have lined up three concerts for December 2021 and will be planning more. With those concerts in mind, we plan to begin in-person rehearsals in late August, by which time all choir members should have had the opportunity to receive their Covid-19 vaccinations. We will update this posting as we add more concerts and other events to our schedule.
In the meantime, we have continued to make progress on our upcoming CD, Orpheus Presents Tucson Treasures, a CD that features outstanding soloists showcasing an eclectic mix of musical genres, from the “The Barber of Seville” to “The Telephone Opera” to “I’m My Own Grandpa.” This CD will enable you to hear some of the finest selections featuring soloists that we have presented in the course of the past five years. The CD should be available for sale in the late fall. Stay tuned!
Here's a taste of music to come...
