So surreal to see Mrs Felstein today and in all the company we have shared over the past 9 years! Her and so many others have forever cemented a legacy in the hearts of families and students through a dedication to their empowerment that far exceeded expectations and any 9 to 5 job. While passion isn’t something that we track well or compensate in education in which our teachers pour out and exude on a daily basis, I had the privilege of handing off 120 8th graders into the care of the phenomenal Mrs Felstein and team of Carrera/REACH Colleagues back in 2016. Today I saw some of these students since their 8th grade year and was overwhelmed with joy at not only their presence but their growth!! They all had a similar, yet POWERFUL response in tribute to Mrs Felstein when asked “how are things going?…” Their response after traversing their first years of adulthood in the middle of a pandemic- “it’s been tough, but I was ready…” Right before recounting their favorite memory of Mrs Felstein and her team 🥰
Thank you for setting the standard in all that you do. From data point interpretation to student club sponsorship and creation, we will continue to close the gaps our students and their families and make it possible for them to thrive! We will miss you but we will see you soon!
Today we said, “See you later” to a beloved member of our team! Mrs. Felstein will be moving to NY this summer to be closer to family. Please share your well wishes with her in the comments and we will make sure she sees them! She will be missed!
(But on a positive note, we got to see members of the classes of 2019 and 2020 at her send-off party and it made our hearts so happy!!)
Personally, I never really thought about what I could do outside of medicine until the option was not immediately accessible.
You have to be able to compete for a spot in some careers. When students are exposed to the process earlier, they not only learn how to compete and what they are competing for in the classroom, they also see that their future is multifaceted. Not only can you do hard things, you can do many! Their options only become limited by their imagination, and success gets defined on their own terms. They slowly evolve into a student that wants to be “pushed,” and has found their “pull” to the next level. All the while building resilience every step of the way. It’s possible, and mentorship can provide the fine-tuning in partnership with their families, educators, and ever-growing support network. They can see what they can be, now on to the next phase…self-valuation! 💪🏾
Time is MONEY!! 💸💸💸
Continue to shine bright young scientists!! So proud of you all!!

One of the most powerful resources this district has to offer families is all of its success stories in the form of its alumni! Can’t wait to see how the district can help the students to stand on the shoulders of giants 💪🏾. Alumni please share and let’s get connected!
Union Alums – Given Union’s more than 100 years as a school district – and deep bench of supportive alumni – we are considering forming a Union Alumni Association. Please take a moment and answer a few questions to guide our decision-making. We appreciate your input. Thank you!
